Generic arena shooter #5937385949285 No thanks. View Quote idk, Trust me, i'm about as burnt out on shooters as one can get... But this one looks interesting. I've watched a bit of video going through the classes and the gameplay - there's a lot of neat stuff in there. Some of the classes look like a lot of fun to play, and it looks like you'll need to be able to adapt and change classes on the fly to manage through the matches. It looks a lot deeper than TF2. |

I'm still surprised they're selling it for $40 when their main competitor is free.

The only reason it's compared to TF2 is that people think that the obvious objective system, that TF2 didn't make but people think it did, is similar. It doesn't play anything at all like TF2. |

The game is great. Currently my wait time for matches is about 10 minutes due to my MMR (high). Most people get in to matches within seconds.
The game is the best Blizzard product they've released in years. It dominates D3, SC2, Hearthstone, and HoTS (the only game I've genuinely liked that they've released since WC3/D2).
It is 100% worth your time to try the beta. It is a massive success. |

The biggest reason: no progression system or end-goal; all abilities, skills, weapons, and characters are unlocked from the start. You essentially experience the entire game within the first 5 minutes of playing, and there's nothing to entice you to keep playing except a little level number next to your name or a chance at a random cosmetic item for a random character. |

Spent a few more hours playing on both PC and PS4 today.
I had some pretty epic moments playing as the healer Mercy. I managed to revive my entire team at once and get the Play Of The Game with it. Also played as the big robot tank with the hammer and shield (sorry I forgot his name), and standing on top of the car with the shield proved to be an unstoppable tactic that was pretty intense. I'm not much of an assaulter but I do enjoy playing as Tracer sometimes. Her rewind ability really throws your enemies off, and her warping ability makes everything a lot more fast paced. Maybe I'll pony up the cash for it. I'll admit that it's a lot of fun, but I do hope that there's a lot more content. |

It's meant to be fair and even for all players. Sprays, skins, emotes, victory poses, highlight animations... all unlockable. 100% agree. I always liked the old Game Pro "Fun Factor" rating. That's why I e been playing TF2 since 2008.
I feel OW is a very very worthy successor to TF2. I'm loving it. I've settled into a very nice niche of Reinhardt for escort matches, Bastion or Torbjorn for defensive matches, and Junkrat for pretty much anything else. Offensive Junkrat is loads of fun to play! |

I almost puked when I saw the characters "bio" on the blizzard website.
One character is an advocate for climate change. The other for social issues. Lúcio is an international celebrity who inspires social change through his music and actions.
Lúcio Correia dos Santos grew up in Rio de Janeiro, in a poor and crowded favela that was hit hard by the financial upheaval following the Omnic Crisis. As Brazil began the long process of recovery, he wanted to find a way to lift the spirits of those around him. He found his answer in music and its power to bring people together and even help them forget their troubles, if only for a short time. He performed on street corners, in block parties, and as he got older, at a string of legendary underground shows. But Lúcio's close-knit community was thrown into chaos when the multinational Vishkar Corporation secured a contract to redevelop large tracts of the city. Lúcio and his neighbors had been told that the development would improve their lives. However, that promise never became a reality. Vishkar imposed controls on the residents in the name of building a more orderly society: enforcing curfews, cracking down on what the company perceived as lawless behavior, and exploiting the populace as a cheap labor force. Lúcio wouldn't stand for it. He stole Vishkar sonic technology that had been used to suppress the people, and he converted it into a tool to rally them to action. In a popular uprising, they drove Vishkar out of their neighborhoods. Lúcio's leadership made him a star overnight and a symbol for positive social change. His music skyrocketed in popularity. Whereas he had once performed locally, he was now filling arenas across the world. With his newfound fame, Lúcio realizes that he has an opportunity to make a difference and change the world for the better. View Quote Mei is a scientist who has taken the fight to preserve the environment into her own hands.
Though many blamed the planet's escalating, unexplained climate phenomena on the advent of new technologies, the rapidly growing omnic population, and drastically increased consumption of resources, the true cause remained unknown. To find a solution, Overwatch established a series of eco-Watchpoints at remote, critical locations worldwide. Mei-Ling Zhou was a member of this multiyear initiative. A peerless climatologist, she had introduced cutting-edge innovations in the field of climate manipulation that protected at-risk areas in Asia and beyond. She was assigned to the program's monitoring station at Watchpoint: Antarctica when disaster struck: a sudden, catastrophic polar storm battered the installation and cut it off from the outside world, leaving the facility damaged and the scientists stranded. As their supplies dwindled, they entered cryostasis in a last-ditch effort to survive until a rescue attempt could be made. But that rescue never came. It was years later when the team's cryogenics chamber was finally discovered. Mei, still in hibernation, was the only survivor. The world Mei awoke to had gone through considerable changes: Overwatch was no more, the serious climate issues had worsened, and none of the eco-Watchpoints were in operation. Any clues that they had uncovered were lost. Mei has decided to continue her work on her own. Equipped with a portable version of her climate-manipulation technology, she travels around the world, hoping to re-establish the eco-network and track down the causes of the threats to the planet's ecosystem. Mei is a scientist who has taken the fight to preserve the environment into her own hands.
Equipped with a portable version of her climate-manipulation technology, she travels around the world, hoping to re-establish the eco-network and track down the causes of the threats to the planet's ecosystem. zomgz my safe space i'm triggered. who the fuck cares? I might pick it up, but I got Battleborn and that has gone down as the shortest lived 60 dollar AAA game I've ever played. Its not a bad game, I just don't want to play it, I don't know why. I'm a huge gearbox fan, but I had zero interest in battleborn - it's a completely different game. much more a MOBA - and Overwatch is an arena shooter. Overwatch is probably the most FUN i've had playing a shooter since my first spins through borderlands 1 and 2. |

I keep saying whatever character is my favorite then I do well with another. I feel they're all extremely viable in the right hands... except for zenyatta (sp?), I have yet to finish a game with him, post nerf he is borderline useless. If you play him like a sniper he's very strong. That's what I've been seeing, hang back, launch grenades, throw a charge at anybody's face that gets too close |

I keep seeing advertisements on TV for this game, yet they're always CGI cutscenes and such; no gameplay.
The gameplay is the most amazing part of this game... Why wouldn't they showcase it? |

View Quote Dude, the game exists in a world where the moon is colonized, an ape can speak, dragons fly out of arrows, robots are gods and religious leaders, and a woman is stuck in and out of time. The game also features ruthless murderers, ex soldiers, ninjas, mech suit using starcraft players, lava drinking dwarves, and a dude who uses his own explosives on himself to travel. And you're upset about the incredibly racist climatev scientist character? |
