Decent specs.

I am not that familiar with AMD cpu's. Have you researched that CPU compared to something like an i5 4690k? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372

Anyways, I would forgo the dual hard drives. Get a single WD Black drive (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJRS6FU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00)

I would head over to PC Perspective and check out their recommended systems for low and mid-range systems. Some of your parts are similar. http://www.pcper.com/hwlb

Be sure to check out ebay and your local craigslist for hardware deals. You can often get good parts for considerably less.

I just purchased a used nvidia 980 from CL and saved almost $100 from retail.

Good luck! Happy Thanksgiving!

I grabbed the 4690k for $200. OP, I'd go intel.  I'm building one myself right now and looking at a lot of comparisons between the intel and AMD chips it seems like intel is the choice. Cooler temps, less power, and with the 4690/4790 you can OC them safely. I basically cloned a buddy's build with the 4690k (z97 mobo if you want to OC), and people get them to 4.5ghz easilly, if not 4.8ghz safely.

Skip the AMD processor and go Intel, and you're going to want more than 2GB on a video card nowadays. Maybe bump up your power supply to 800w just in case too.
