As topic says

I have fsx steam edition  no mods or add ons

So recommend me must have add ons for that.  Free or pay I want both

Also pick me another flight game out

Been looking at xplane 10 and possibly dcs

Dcs I can do stand alone or steam version doesn't matter but I have no clue about anything

I like flying commercial jets like 747 and such.

Want to learn to flight fighter jets as well.

I have the saitek rudder pedals and proflight yoke and the x52 I think joystick and throttle quadrant

Wow this brings back a lot of memories. I used to be incredibly active in the FSX community and would fly on a regular basis.

My two favorite companies that were payware are Aerosoft (think they're gone now) and IRIS. PMDG (if I remember right) is good for commercial stuff. Also found a company that did the best payware helicoptors I had the pleasure of flying in the sim.

After flying in DCS I can't go back to anything else. Stick with the standalone version. Comes with 2 free planes, the TF-51 Mustang which is a full study level simulation, and the SU-25T which has an advanced flight model but simplified systems.

How many does planes usually run in dcs?   What other planes do they offer?

Is dcs world more fighter jet style?

DCS is all combat aircraft both ground attack and fighters, the A-10C is the quintessential DCS module and still my favorite. There's an assortment of lower detail level modules, systems wise, but almost all of them have advanced flight models.

The full fidelity modules include the A-10C, P/TF-51, BF-109K4, FW-190D9, MiG-21bis, F-86, MiG-15bis, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50. The F/A-18c and F-14 A/B are in development right now. The L-39C/ZA will be released in September along with DCS 1.5 (new graphics engine).

Simplified systems aircraft include the F-15C, SU-27, A-10A, Su-25, SU-25T, MiG-29, and SU-33. The 29 and 33 have simplified flight models as of now but are getting advanced flight models at some point.

A lot of the modules are $40-50 normally, there are 70% off sales every couple months, including right now.

I will def get dcs then

I guess for now I'll use fsx for commercial and maybe try x plane 10 unless you guys think fsx is better

all i will say is the a-10c module of DCS  has a huge manual and it doesn't quite give everything you need at time. There are alot of tutorial videos for it on you tube though

I just wish somebody would make a combat flight sim that brought back the competition that Air Warrior III provided.

Well I ordered fsuipc and fspassengers

I did download s couple freeware planes but haven't mess with it too much.  Been flying the 747 and got use to the layout

I do have a couple days off so I'll be messing and learning the 767-787 figuring out the layout and autopilot settings

Still learning to fly via gps lines and setting up auto pilot  need to learn how to setup gps flight planner. Can get the destination but it doesn't give me waypoints

I would also like to figure out how to use the keypad type computer in the plane and also remap some buttons.  I wanna get all my auto pilot buttons and knobs mapped to specific buttons on my yoke and keyboard

its been over 10 years since I played a flight sim.  IIRC it was called the "The X planes".  It has all the experimental stuff, Blackbird, X-15, Goblin, U2 etc.  I could not even imagine whats available now.

Last time I played WT the wait times for the full realism matches was ridiculous,  arcade mode was all anyone was playing.

To be clear, this is what you want. It is not too difficult. And try the F-15C first, as it is the easiest to fly.

Any one have feedback on x plane. Specifically the default 737 and 747 and how it compares to fsx?   Are there more things you can switch on and such in x plane

X plane seems very quirky with its mechanics.  You will almost certainly have to remap keys as most of the stuff is awkwardly mapped and not as obvious as FSX.  Overall it seems that if I were to actually devote time to it it might really be a great simulator.  One thing that annoys me is the really short draw distance.  Your vision is obscured by "fog" that means you can't see anything that isn't directly below you past 50,000 feet.

X-Plane flight models can be rather goofy due to the way it calculates aerodynamics in real-time vs. pre-built performance tables for each aircraft.

PMDG 737 NGX-800 WL.

I flew the PMDG 747 / 777. I love the 777, but as a simmer put it to me....

What is the best part about flying? Taking off, and landing.

I have found the 737 the most fun as it is a short to mid range plane, where as the 747 / 777 are long range.

I like how the 777 can put you on the other side of the world, but... you are flying for 8 + hours to land? I also found the plane to be more automatic than anything else. It is still immersive, but, there was a limit.

The 737 is short range, so I find it cool to pick multiple airports to "hop" to, to make it across the world. Plus, it is as "automatic" in flying, so, there are a ton of steps you need to go through (more so than the 777) to get it ready and up in the air.

Can you fly into St. Martin (SXM)? Dad goes there yearly on vacation and always talks about how short and water-surrounded the runway is.
