I'm sure other parents will be interested in this as well.  Maybe keep this going during the sale season.

So which one do I get my kids and where's the best place and price?

2 main things to consider.  Do you want to get one with a connect?  What game do you want it to be packaged with? (Assassins creed, COD, I think there is one or two more packages)

I know that a few places have them marked down to $329 for Black Friday. --direct through Microsoft, BestBuy-- I assume that the other usuals will too (Walmart, Target, etc)

Another option is trading in an xbox 360/PS3 if you have one of those.  Microsoft will give you $100 towards an xbone. Link to deal

I'm going to be trading in my old 360 since I don't see myself playing that once I get the one.

the kinnect is kind of cool, but its a gimmick, we use it to Skype overseas. but honestly the base system with a game for like 350 is a great deal right now

They each have their own 360s.  One has a kinect.  So should I get one without a kinect and another with?

Do they like the kinnect?

I don't think either use it for anything but from what I understand the kinect is part of the interface: on, off, shit like that.

The Kinect is awesome, I use it for Skype all the time. You can also say "xbox, record that" to record game clips while keeping your hands on the controller.

Target has a great deal on the Xbox One. I recommend the Kinect if you can afford it. Also the new Fantasia game is great for kids and uses the Kinect.

Well when I say "kids", one is 11 and other other is almost 19.  They seem to play the same games as far as I can tell.  I was looking at the base $350 model for one (who already has a kinect) and the Assassin's Creed model w/Kinect for the other.  What pisses me off is they probably have a hundred 360 games that won't be compatible.

Target is having the Assassain's Creed bundle on Black Friday for $329.99. Comes with a $50 target card.
You can also get it at Costco for less  ($335) and it comes with a free extended warranty.

Oh, and the Xbox One is not backwards compatible because they have moved to PC architecture (finally!) but there is a lot of cool stuff about it and there are a lot of apps that are available for the One.

Once you go forward a generation,  it's really hard to go back. The new stuff just so much better in terms of how good the look and feel.

Trade in 360 games for credit at Gamestop towards X1 games.

I traded in my 360 for the $100 credit towards X1. Just got X1 Assassins Creed bundle for $273 shipped after tax. I'll preface this by saying my coupon code did not work right off the bat and had to work customer service to make it happen. Good deal nonetheless.

This.

That's all I use my Kinect for and it's spoiled the shit out of me.

I think a couple places were doing $150 for trade in still.

One more question.  They both have individual 360 live accounts.  It's there a different live account for One?

Just bought one for my 16 year old son tonight and also bought a Samsung 32" LED TV on Thursday.  The XBOX One graphics are better than his 360.  We bought it at Gamestop for $329.99 with two games and 50% off an XBOX live account for one year.  Didn't care for the kinect because he never uses it.

Edit:  He has his XBOX 360 still connected to the other HDMI port on his TV so can still play those games as well.

Just to be clear, no accessories or games from the 360 will work with xbone.  That includes the Kinect.

I bought a xbone yesterday from BBY.  It was the best deal I could find with the kinect.

That seems like a pretty good deal.
