Yeah, I got it used for $50.

It's a wee bit bigger than I need, but it sure makes it easy to work in!

PS: Really not digging Windows 8.1 at all.

I have the same case (HAF932).  $50 is a screaming deal.  I bought mine new for $173 via PC Part Picker retailer list.  What LED color are you running?

It's a great case & the extra space is good both for access & airflow.

How fast is the fan turning on your side panel and front panel?

Mine aren't really turning super fast....

Are they stock fans (the ones not going fast)?

Get a fan controller

Yeah, stock 220's I think.

I thinking it's more the splitter not providing enough juice from the mobo.

The other weird thing is the PC doesn't like to restart.

It'll try, go dark, but won't boot.  I have to turn the power on and off manually.

120mm or 200mm?

Looks like you have a 200mm up top- they're really not fast, but they produce a decent amount of CFM.

You should have 120mm in front and either a 120mm or 140mm in the back.

The only fan I plug into the motherboard is my CPU fan, so that it will automatically adjust speed by itself. Everything else gets plugged into a fan controller so I can adjust speed manually. I usually keep them on high.

For reset and on/off: sounds like your wires are plugged in the wrong connection or they might be backwards. Try flipping them around.

Yep, got all the drivers.

The program just doesn't launch.

I have a desktop shortcut.

Double click it.

Nada.

I put the "play" CD in the drive.  Spin it and click "play".  Dialogue box goes away and...

Nada.

Well, you are trying to play an 11 year old game on a PC built with modern parts on Windows 8...

I had to download a special patch to get Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory to work on my Windows 7 machine. I also wanted to play Medal of Honor: Airborne because it came bundled with a bunch of other MOH games. Couldn't play it because it only supported XP and Vista. Nothing newer.

It's a damned miracle I got Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit III (released in 1998) to work on my Windows 7 machine. Thankfully, there's a patch that helps you install it. Runs without any problems.

Cd? What is this antiquated device you speak of? Use steam and you wont run into that many compatibility issues.

this -- some of your older games have been put out by services like steam or goodoldgames and redone to work with current versions of windows. Games from 2002 might not function properly in Windows 7 or 8.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that.

I noticed that Steam had Roller Coaster Tycoon on there one day. I haven't played that shit in a long ass time.

I haven't noticed speed variations, though it may be subtle; they run really quiet.  I also ditched the stock chip fan & have a Noctua cooler on the CPU (i7 4770).  Plus, the GTX780 GPU had its own dual fan.  I set the BIOS to 'performance' mode, but no heat issues thus far.  Titanfall runs smooth like butter, no matter how busy things get onscreen.

A quick update after living with it for awhile.

The SSD is the bomb.  Super fast boots, maps load like a mofo on games.

The graphics card is no slouch, it's running Elite Sniper III in Ultra mode.  The benchmark was 78fps average, max was 174fps.

Classic shell saved 8.1.

The wireless usb with twin antennas is super fast.

Case is quiet, everything works, it's quite the contrast with my old 10+ year old XP box.

I dig it!

Time to overclock.

I set an overclock on my GPUs....frikkin awesome.

Overclocked my i7-4770k to 4.4 Ghz...I could probably go higher. If re-did my set up with more radiator space and a custom water loop, I could probably push closer to 5.0.

de-lidding my CPU helped make the CPU run 15-17*C cooler under load than stock.

Only downside is my computer/gaming/gun room gets pretty warm

I recently recovered the uh, files, from a 10+ year old laptop HDD.

Small image size, short video length, and overrall dissapointment.

These are the salad days of, uh, files, guy!
