I got Destiny for the Xbox One after hearing the hype about it and was seriously disappointed.  Very repetitive, and I consider myself a smart guy and I have no freaking clue what the plot or storyline is supposed to be.  None of it makes sense.  I also don't like that you can spend some time fighting a group of bad guys (and it's not even a good or exciting fight), you kill them, walk for 10 seconds in one direction and then come back and the same dudes are there to fight again.

The only game I really enjoy so far is Titanfall.

They're looking for a good tailor so they have something other than their long johns to wear?

Is there something wrong with that?

I bought the PS4 and was eagerly awaiting the new gen games. So far everyone one of them has sucked.

Watch dogs, a repetitive boring fucking game with a story I couldn't give a fuck about.

Destiny, I was so psyched for it and it seemed cool at first. Then I had to replay the same areas over and over and it just got boring quick.

So I traded Destiny in for $40 and bought Mordor. Fun game, loved the fighting, but now it too is just the same thing over and over. There is no variety to this game at all. Everything is the same, the scenery, the creatures you fight.

It's one giant boring fucking camp site with orcs and some human slaves. Maybe if they put the game in different environments as you progress through the game it wouldn't feel so repetitive.

I don't know, maybe it's just because I'm 40 years old now, have less patience and expect more when I pay so much for a game system and over $60 per game.

You shouldn't expect much the first year of a new console. Although I have enjoyed the games that have come out. This next year is where it's at. I'm looking forward to the Dying light and The Division.

I'm interested in seeing how The Crew is,
A PLAYGROUND OF UNPRECEDENTED SCOPE AND VARIETY: The entire United States is your driving playground ? all the roads coast-to-coast and everything in between

. It comes out Dec 2nd. If this is true, It'll be a massive game(in size) I would think.

The only 2 games I have had any excitement about this year is GTA: V and Far Cry 4 (whenever it comes out).

Here recently, I've been getting back into flight simulation. DCS: World FTW. Especially since I've bought the Mi-8 MTV2 and MiG 21 BIS modules. Buying Flaming Cliffs 3 next.

Just need to build a newer, better PC than the outdated one I have so I can have way better graphics and framerates.

That's my problem too.  I think it usually has to do with poor enemy AI.  At first it's cool, but when you figure out their behavior/patterns and see it repeat, meh.

Seems the one area that's really lacking, focus seems on speed and graphics and open world.  What's the point of an open world if it's all the same crap over and over again?

I have to also chime in and say that I don't finish all the PC games I start either. I think I have about a 40% finish rate.

As already said I too get bored with them too quickly, and I lay the blame squarely on modern games being 75% filler / grind / repetitive actions and only like 25% enjoyable game.

When I first start playing a game it is fun because it is new and different, but depending on how quickly the "new and different" wears off usually around 4 hours in I start to feel like a hamster on a wheel if the game's story is not keeping me focused... and most modern games have absolute shit for stories.

I have been trying my hardest to get back to finishing Alien Isolation but fuck me if that game isn't the perfect storm of way too long, way too repetitious and way too nerve wracking to keep coming back to. I also keep telling myself to go back and keep playing Destiny but again fuck me if that game isn't the most grindy, BORING fucking thing I have ever played.

I cant stand storylines in games. Too muchtory not enouhh fight.  All I play is fps online pvp modes.  Repetitivw but at least your enemy is a person with adaptive behavior.  Competition is still fun for me no matter how many times I play it.  Cod, bf and I like the destiny game too.

It is.

Games have enormous depth, excellent stories, graphics are getting better and better, consoles and PCs performance is better than ever.

Your inability to be entertained by the gaming industry doesn't mean it's not happening.

Also take note that the games that have already been released up until now don't take FULL advantage of the system. Come December the "Good" games will start being released. Keep an eye on "The Order:1886" "Far Cry 4" "Evolve" "Dying Light" "Final Fantasy XV"(If you're into FF) and "Uncharted 4"

I purchased The Last of Us for PS3 and it was so good that I'll be getting the Remastered version for PS4. Talk about a good storyline.. and equally good gameplay.

Stand by for Text Wall from a very grumpy-ass gamer who is tired of his favorite series turning to shit:

I guess it depends on the gaming genres you prefer, and what you care about in a game. Graphics? Yes, you've gotten what you want! Long, immersive SP campaigns with lots of replay options? Much shorter list. The gaming industry "experts" believe that F2P, DLC, ZOMGGRAFIXXX, and multiplayer all the time are the way of the future. You hate listening to 12yr old kids who play nothing but Halo all day long? Too bad, because in order to get that kickass armor piece you want to wear in SP, you have to deal with kids trolling on the mic, TKing, griefing, and quitting! Their parents keep buying them every CoD, Halo, Battlefield, and whatever other EA abomination that gets pushed out and over-hyped, so clearly that's the market to appease!

If you love games just as they come out of the package then sure, there have been some great games. Borderlands, Portal, Dark Souls, Skyrim, etc. But with few exceptions, more and more games are either slimming the SP campaigns down, or skipping them altogether. Now you're seeing games moving to F2P models, ones that literally LIVED off their SP campaign, ie Ace Combat. They're locking their games down against modding too, supposedly because either the engine requires "special tools" or to prevent hax/advantages in MP, but really they just want to charge you $$$$ for that silly digital camo on your AK-47, or so you can buy weapons instead of grinding them and unlocking it that way (*cough* BF "booster" packs or whatever they call them).

Here's something the big publishers are really missing: MASHUP GAMES. There's been Marvel vs DC, Marvel vs Capcom, Capcom vs XXXX, Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur (I think). Why, FFS, haven't we had a kickass mashup of Halo, Star Wars Clone Troopers, Gears of War, Warhammer 40k Space Marines, etc? Yeah, that's a lot of IP to throw in but jeezus, who doesn't want an ARC Trooper, Master Chief, a Space Marine, and name your other big muscly power-armored dude in a kickass squad of manliness (or womanliness if you want to maybe put Samus or a Starcraft Ghost in there). Agree on a studio to build the game, flesh out a badass story where they are all pitted against their combined nemises, and have at it. In SP make the guns weapons all kick ass and stuff, have lots of variety to replay as different characters, armor customization, etc. Separately balance them in MP to keep the fanboism to a dull roar but let people pit their favorite IP against each other.

I had a very long talk with my childhood gaming friend, and this is how I see the landscape: If you love gaming, Indie games and Steam are the place to look. New ideas, funny stuff, not a lot of $$$, and lots of community. If you have a favorite IP, you're gonna get shit. Now's the time to shelve the old favorite series like Ace Combat and Need for Speed, and embrace stuff like Kerbal Space Program, the Metro series, Wolf Among Us, and other new + fresh ideas.

And if you love the same shit, different 6 month Call  of Duty by Michael Bay™ Ultimate Transformers™ Edition brought to you by Mountain Dew™ with special Mountain Dew AK-47™ skin only if you pre-order at Target™, then by all means, enjoy your heyday. But deep down, you can go fuck yourself.

[Side Rant]
I love the Halo games, but I hate thumbsticks for FPS and I hate kids on video games. Bungie/M$'s failure to deliver me a Halo game on PC after the crap Halo 2 port has been a serious issue for me. I'm not touching Destiny anytime soon for that sleight against PC gamers, and I'm doubtful I'll ever see the rest of the Halo games on PC at this point. I've only been asking to use a mouse/keyboard for years, but aparently it's an "unfair advantage" so Xbox isn't going to support it as a control input. The ghetto mods to allow it aren't perfect because the games have auto-aim to make up for the fact that thumbsticks are shit, and unless that's all you do it's a perishable skillset (for me at least). How hard would it be for M$ to allow M/K on XB360 or XBone, and have game developers detect the input and disable autoaim and use better sensitivity mapping? Nope, gotta protect the thumbstick whiners. I want to give them money, but aparently Bungie, 343 Studios, M$, whatever don't want it. Wanna play on PC? Here's Windows Live, because we can't have your wife watching Netflix downstairs on the 360 while you play GTA4 PC or Halo 2! Console exclusive titles are no longer enough to make me buy a new console. I never got a PS3, or a PS4, and am not getting a XBoner anytime soon. Want to keep your series console only? You don't get my money. Port it to PC shittily? You don't get my money.
[/Rant]

I think a lot of rhe problem is older gamers have been doing this stuff so long they want a lot more story and aomething new as far as game play.  The reason thats not happening is the majority of gamers will always be kids and thats where the money is at.  Kids want social competitive fast paced gaming.  No concern for anything else. Kust give em new maps so they dont get bored.

Lucky foe me im the same way. If I want to engage my imagination ill read a book. Video game timw is foe run and gun amd shit talking for fun.

I got disappointed in all games after HL:2
But, Mechwarrior Online despite rough beginnings is coming along.

World of Tanks is fun for a complex physics/ simple game play game.

Wasteland 2 is freaking awesome.

Steam and GOG.com (TIE fighter and X-Wing are on deck) are bringing back tons of awesome old games.

The Fallout series while BUGGY AS FUCK was awesome (only console games I really play, but the PC versions are supposed to be way better).
Guess it all depends on what you're looking for.  But.... PC is where it's at.  Consoles are cool if you like sports games and mindless FPS with kids.

PC IS where it's at. That's why I'm pissed at developers that don't port what are some fantastic games to PC, or better yet even develop for them in the first place.

Red Dead: Redemption
Halo 3, ODST, Reach, 4, Halo Wars, etc
Ace Combat (the good ones, not that Assault shit)

And yeah, Madcap you need to get on the PC movement for Fallout, Skyrim, and Oblivion. I don't even know why someone would play them on console after years of running kickass mods and bugfixes on PC. There are tons of patches for all of them to fix shit that Bethesda themselves never fixed...because Bethesda actually gives players the tools to do it. Want a Mk12 in Fallout 3? Totally possible. Romans vs Vikings in Skyrim? Got that covered. How about Sauron, Nazghul, and First Age Elven armor in Oblivion? Yup. Mods keep players EXCITED to see what the next game brings. Give me a moddable game each time, and I'll keep buying your games. Take that away from me and sell me crap DLC? Nope. After the collapse of THQ the Company of Heroes franchise is about dead to me. COH2 went full retard on DLC, charging many times the original game's cost for bullshit skins and special commanders. They cut off modding beyond a map maker because they KNEW the community can do better, for free.

Mechwarrior Online is something I desperately wanted to like, but with the Clan Mechs looking all blocky and shit, I'm out. I want my original Timberwolf with bendy arms and smooth legs. And again, online only, F2P, and a very slanted economy.

WoT, I've been hooked on it. Unlike MWO, WoT doesn't come from a family of games with a strong SP campaign and expansion packs. Continual updates and content added, albeit frustrating balancing changes that affect my preferred tank types.

And yeah, Console for me was always for Gran Turismo, Driver, Ace Combat, fighting games, etc. FPS with thumbsticks is downright retarded. Why you'd limit an awesome series like Halo to consoles with crap controls baffles me.

Only reason I went console was that I was moving a LOT for work, and splitting time between a few locations, so it was easy to just toss a PS3 and a small flat screen in the bag and go.   I'll prob get  good gaming PC built up not that I'm more stationery, but it it's taking hind tit to chasing tail, old cars, and shooting.

MWO-  I put up with it, because it's all there is.  I don't mind the artwork, and the economy isn't as big of a deal now since they are starting to do more competitions, sales, and generally make it more rewarding to play.   Online only isn't a huge deal for me personally, as I LOVED stomping out fools online on MW3/4.   Been playing since closed Beta, and it's sucking less every month.  The Community warfare sounds like it's going ot be pretty awesome too!.

Yeah, I'm learning that the hard way.   The first time I didn't realize they were there and stayed at Gen 2 50 forever.   Now in 3, I'm working as I go, but some of them are rough.  Still love the game though, and am psyched for the upcoming update where they add mortar Titans.

Umm, I don't know where you can have Garrus "calibrate" your "sheath" IRL. If you do, I hope you took those shots Doc Mordin gives out because he said something about Turian love juice being somewhat irritating to humans...

You can't praise Skyrim and Oblivion mods without at least mentioned that both have very well done sex mods with full animation and voice acting. Or so I hear.

Like you wouldn't be all over a mass effect sex mod!

Haahaaa The best part is the Dec 12 join date...  which makes it fine, as you're just perpetuating stereotypes.

Keep doing it!

Ah, so you actually believe I came to this site due to the post SH panic time, and am here to do nothing but spout garbage and contribute nothing useful to the site? Or are you just making a friendly '13er joke? Maybe I just need to lighten up, but my name ain't Francis

If you're serious, I hadn't joined and posted until late 2012 because I wanted to PM a specific user about some questions relating to my 12.5" SBR build, and then started getting active in the Mk12 thread as I worked on my build. Before that I only read threads and never felt like I had anything to either contribute or ask, so I didn't join. It's funny, I didn't start to like ARs until after I got out in Feb of '09, or maybe I'd have had an earlier join date. But you're right, join date tells everything about me. If making off-color jokes makes me a '13er, then I guess I've been one since about 2005.

Well good. Ever since this '13er thing became a thing, it's been pretty damn annoying after they established the goalpost to include Dec 2012.

Usually I'm the guy on TS/Ventrillo making people piss themselves laughing with random, off the wall and off color comments. Usually when we're supposed to do something important like not lose a few billion ISK worth of ships in EvE Online. It's what I excel at, especially now that I have to bottle it up until the kid's asleep and I can get some gaming in. Last thing I need is my toddler repeating about 90% of my vocabulary after yelling at the potatoes in World of Tanks when she goes to daycare.
