FYI. Retirees are waring this weekend
Also, the winter update is out Level 7 giants, level 12 collectors (gold and elixer) You can also now make a war base and save it without going to war Also a de drill can be bought at TH7 and the second de drill at th8 |

Long thread on match making
Cliff notes version.. Matching is complex and involves a lot of factors Bottom line is we need 3 stars from mid level crashers, either through attacking lower or changing to different strategies |

Here's my take on the match up thing. As a low-mid range th8, I can typically 3 star a th7. I can sometimes 3 star a poorly laid out or rushed th8. I haven't had much luck with that lately though.
 If you want the low-mid th8's to 3 star, they/we need more th7's to target. The only way I know of that we can influence how many th7's they have, is to have more th7's ourselves. From looking at that thread, it would increase the odds of them having more th7's. But from what I've seen, we let in anyone that wants in, and I'm not suggesting changing that.
The other way to increase our successful attacks is to increase our offensive power by climbing the tech tree. One more dark barracks upgrade and I can start trying gowipe, for instance. Other things that go through my mind when I'm picking a target are letting our lower level people make attacks and get stars and my desire to add stars for the achievement. (I need greens for my last builder!) I want to give our th7's a chance to get a star and earn loot, but at the same time, if I attack a th7, I want all three stars. A bit of a contradiction. Give me some direction here. My typical war army is 9 lvl2 dragons, 4 lvl4 wiz, 3 lvl4 archers, 1 lvl4 barb, 1 heal, 2 rage. Should I go after th7's only to almost guarantee 3 stars? Make my first attack on a th7 as soon as the war starts, then get the third star on another th7 (cleanup) after some of the lower guys have had a shot? Should I keep looking for weak th8's to take a gamble on? Let our th7's attack most/all of their th7's then clean up? Schedule wise, I usually need to make my attacks on the first night, because I don't always have time for a second attack on the second night. I have kids, 7:30-8:00 is bedtime. Starting war at 9pm would work a lot better for me. One more thing for the lower guys, pull those clan troops out and wipe them out! If you drop 20 giants and 4 lvl5 wizards come out of the cc, those giants are toast, your attack is done! |

I agree, Jim. One of the worst flaws we have is the habit of relying on beastly troops, donated from the top 20. Those troops USED to be able to bull through anything in a CC, but not as we've gotten stronger as a clan, that's become less and less true. You can't bull through clan troops anymore, guys. Gotta deal with them.

A Town Hall 7 can't stand up to a decent dragon attack. Use 3 lightening to take at the most center AD and the spread the dragons out, leaving one or two back to make a direct line to the center. |

I think if our #2 leaves his th out, it's pretty obvious what the idea is. I encountered this base when I was briefly in The Arfcom Clan. We were disciplined about it and didn't hit this base for loot until it was obvious we were losing. I think the goal is to let them get one star for loot, but no more.
I know we're struggling trying to find a way to do better in wars. One thing that would help me would be assigned targets for the lower half of the clan. I can attack with dragons or with gowipe. Different bases lend themselves to different attack styles. If I decide I'm going to attack a dragon friendly base (strong walls, weak or exposed air defense, strong ground defense), then someone else jumps in and 2 stars it, now I may have to go hit a gowipe friendly base (long, straight, weak walls but maybe with strong air defense, weak ground) and my dragons will suck. Tell me I have to hit this base right here, and I can fine tune my army, right down to using an archer vs a giant for pulling cc troops. Something like, the bottom half of the clan attacks the opponent that is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 spots below his rank. Whatever the number is. If anyone wants to give me suggestions on my attacks feel free. I'm probably going back to dragons until my pekkas reach level 2 and wall breakers get to level 5. I really like gowipe better than dragons, but I seem to be having trouble three starring anything with gowipe. I can't keep the wizards alive. |

I don't have much choice, I have to make one attack tonight. I don't have enough time to make 2 armies and do 2 attacks on the second night. I usually pick the kids up around 5, then have to make something for dinner, then start getting them ready for bed.
