What's a real good fighter in the 100-150 dollar range? I got the Gladius way back, and was thinking of upgrading because I don't hear much positive about it?

What's a real good fighter in the 100-150 dollar range? I got the Gladius way back, and was thinking of upgrading because I don't hear much positive about it? View Quote A direct upgrade from the Gladius is the Sabre, but it's $170. The Super Hornet is great, although it's $165. Both the Sabre and Super Hornet are "Space Superiority" fighters, though the Sabre has better maneuverability, stealth, and probably speed, while the Super Hornet has better armor. The Super Hornet will make a better escort fighter, while the Sabre is better on the attack. The Avenger Titan at $50 is considered among the best bang for your buck. The new Reliant Tana at $65 has more firepower than the Avenger on paper, but it's a "starter ship" and not yet flyable, so it may end up being strictly worse. Those are the fighters I would give the most consideration to. A few extra things to note: - The Sabre and Super Hornet have 0 cargo capacity, though the Super Hornet can remove the top turret for a cargo module. - The Super Hornet and Reliant Tana can seat two - with the second person controlling the turret and/or other computer systems. An outside choice is the Cutlass Black at $100. It has the firepower to compete with the Super Hornet and Sabre, but it's larger and a bigger target - though it has the most cargo capacity. It also allows a second crewman. It's in the middle of a rework, so there may be some minor changes (look for an increase to its maneuverability). |

CIG's saying there will be monthly content updates, this is the year Star citizen will break out by the end of the year everyone will be saying, "holy shit, look at this!"
you folks remember what they called "the crysis effect"? where everyone wanted to upgrade their computers so they could play crysis? prepare for crysis effect 2, or maybe the citizen effect. speaking of crysis, it's a decent comparison for SC, it was a revolutionary open world and graphically intense. Unfortunately, the comparison ends on sales, it only sold about 3 million copies due to a lot of piracy. However star citizen should be a lot more piracy proof, still, for the sake of argument, say they only sell 2 million more copies, (bringing the total to 3 million) at 45$ a copy. That's another 90 million for cloud imperium games, so your talking about 200 million in total funding in the worst, unlikely scenario I can think of. Odds are they will sell a LOT more copies, 5-10 million by my guesstimate, they also plan to sell In game cash (with limits) after ship sales end, which will further add to their profits. Point is, CIG is going to be freaking rich, they will be rolling in money, they could score half a billion or more, and they will be receiving that amount if full, with no publisher, or advertising firms taking their cut. it's no wonder why traditional gaming media is so ambivalent, this could be the death of traditional publishing companies, this could be the "EA killer" |

For those who don't follow SC and aren't space sim fans this game may not hold a lot of appeal. But, I think once they see its a fist class fps shooter, and even more, the game will start to steam role. On top of that SC is coming in on the heels of VR, Something that is sure to be nothing short of a gaming revolution. Playing games like SC in VR is going to change everything. |

I doubt it. I don't think the larger ships like the Starfarer will show up until the instance size gets larger.
But I'm hopeful. Because I'm seriously considering dumping my Retaliater for a Starfarer Gemini. |

I'm sorry, man. I seriously remembered like 5 minutes before the starting gun, then it took like 3 minutes to do the time zone math, and a minute to post the heads-up here, and when I got back to the site it was 17 seconds until the bang. So I got extremely lucky with my timing. I might have been one of the first owners, except that stupid 4-digit year on CC expiration...I guarantee you that caused a lot of the CC spam, not script kiddies like they're claiming. For those unaware, the required format for CC expiration is MM/YYYY, but it won't error out or tell you that, it just comes back as a generic error. You just have to trial-and-error that shit until it works. |

Do we have a Discord channel setup?
For those that don't know, Discord is similar to TeamSpeak and mumble but, in my opinion, much better. https://discord.gg/0kWo6IDWyJDMEG0B If we don't have a channel setup I've taken the liberty to do so. This link will give you access to the channel all you need to do is install the program. If there is any interest in maintaining the channel, and if anyone who admin, let me know. I don't really have a lot of experience with the program. |

So is this game gold now, or are they just still taking peoples money for game vignettes?
I have a couple ships, but gave up waiting. And I own page deux. |

View Quote Vanguard is a ton of fun to fly. Some people on the official forum are complaining about the main gun, but I tore stuff up when I used it. The 4 S2 fixed guns pack a decent punch, as well. If only the turret was slaved to the pilot's control... Not a fan of the HUD, though. I couldn't see what was on any of the MFDs - target info, weapon info (ammo remaining...), shield strength, etc. It seems that only two of the shields are functioning. Also, the ship model in the engineering station is a Retaliator. Ultimately a cool ship with a lot of potential, but it's going to need a little work to justify its use over a (cheaper in real $, but more capable) Constellation Andromeda. I'm confident that it'll receive the attention it needs during the continuing ship balancing. The Freelancer is pretty sweet, too. I didn't spend a lot of time in it, and it glitched out on me once, but I really like the look and feel of it since the rework. I killed things fairly easily with it, and its stock guns are only S3 - it will be downright nasty with 4x S4 equipped. |

I logged in for the first time in months today and I have to say that I'm impressed as hell. I got my ass handed to me by a Vanguard while I was solo in a Connie, but was laughing the whole time.
Only had two bugs pop up but they are probably on my computer's end since it's not supposed to run SC anyhow. Speaking of which, dual core computer with a R9 280 card ran fine on low. Occasional pixel smearing but it didn't go above 64c internal temp with fans never going above 40%. Now I just have to learn how to fly and do stuff. |
|
They really need to add chain fire options for the Vanguard and Connie's guns.

I logged into the PU for the first time EVER the other night. What a shambles. I was running with a friend in Germany, and we did manage to get into the same instance 3 times out of 5. That's where the good news ended, though.
First we tried his connie. It kept ejecting him out through the bulkhead. We did finally get out into the sky, I climbed up into the turret, which wouldn't stop turning. Bogies reported, but everything on my radar was green. Then the ship just sort of spontaneously started coming apart. At some point, my client locked and I had to ctl-alt-del out to regain any control of the computer, let alone SC. My Mustang Delta kept shoving me halfway into the upper bulkhead, so I couldn't fly that. I did get my loaner connie to sort of work, but my shitty flying skills put a stop to that I definitely need more ram and a better video card. I'm about half convinced that the big issues we were having were related to our playing on two sides of the earth and trying to sinc inside that ship. |

Had you visited before, you'd appreciate how far they've come in such a short time...the progress is amazing. The reason you have access right now is to find new bugs. Talking about them here does no good, you need to go post them to the Issue Council so they are appropriately prioritized. I play with Australians all the time, and they have the worst internet service on the planet, and they're a lot further removed from us than Germany is. I don't think that's your issue. I think you just hit a whole bunch of different bugs. For every session like the one you experienced, though, you'll have a great one that can go for hours. Maybe not without a hitch, but typically something you can live with. Keep at it, and remember to post bugs to the Issue Council! |
