Creative Assembly sign up for Rezzed

The Creative Assembly has joined the line up for Rezzed: The PC and Indie Games Show, and will give attendees a sneak preview of the next instalment in its Total War franchise.

Russell's talk is titled 25 Years of The Creative Assembly, and the company joins other top developers like Gearbox Software and Stainless Games in supporting the event.

"The Creative Assembly is one of the oldest and most successful developers in the UK and they also happen to be our neighbours on the South Coast, so there are lots of reasons we're delighted to welcome them to Rezzed," added Tom Bramwell, operations director at Eurogamer.

Victorian total war for me. I doubt that there will be a TW based solely around that civil war because it's not that big of a deal outside the US. Creative Assembly isn't an american studio, IIRC.

Total War Eastern Front!

yeah I could only hope.

Not to worry though, Company of Heroes 2 is in the East.

Rome 2 or Medieval 3 are the only things I'll get excited about.

IIRC, they have development studios in the UK and Australia.

I've enjoyed the last few games but I really think Total War is better off in a melee time period without firearms. I'd love to see Rome 2 the most, Rome was the first TW game I played and there was nothing like commanding Roman Legions. Except maybe Spartan hoplites...

My guess is the Crusades or the Mongols.

while maybe the civil war not a huge topic elsewhere. it was pretty pivotal in phasing in new military tech. they could equip europe in the game with whatever period gear they had, and base it on any warfare that was going on over there as well.

crusades or mongols could be good to, another visit to rome, not a bad choice either. Sparta would make a great setting too.

Plus they had the Crusades in the Kingdom Expansions for Medieval 2. Not that I would complain, I have always found
the Crusades interesting...

though that wouldn't make sense they worked so hard for this engine to work well with firearms. I think they'll come out with something new then an expansion to it then come out with rome II then after rome II they'll do medieval III then jump to a new title.

As much as I want Rome 2 (or even Medieval 3), I agree with you.

They should do a bronze age total war.

It starts with the early sumerians and ends with the dark ages (the real dark ages not the medieval crap).

there are so many awesome bronze age empires. Assyrians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Aegeans, Mycenaeans Minoans, early rome city state, etc.

There are so many cool things going on during this time period. You have all the jews vs philistines conflict. This would be a scripted thing in game where a band of rebel hordes spawn in the middle east and start capturing areas.

You could even have special mods. One of which being the battle for Troy. Not sure how they would do the Odyssey.

The cool thing about this Era is it was truly dominated by the Hero mythos, where soldiers battled for small city states and named heros were heralded to gold like status for their exploits.

They could also easily do a Greece total war mod based on the early greek city states an their warfare along with the persian invasions.

The key is that they would need to spend a lot of time developing chariot warfare (which was huge in bronze age), and develop the engine to handle seaborne ancient warfare.

Even if they do another Rome, they still need to spend alot of time on sea battles. Most of all they need to release a game that is not plagued with bugs like they have done with ever Total war title.

Still pretty sure it'll take advantage of the new weapons mechanics they invented for fall of the samurai. I think that's why they released that as an expansion first, to test the waters, gauge reception, and work out bugs. Now that they've done that, it doesn't seem likely that they won't take advantage of it in the form of a full new game while it's still fresh.

We will find out soon, I guess.

The pic is the original Rome with "II" superimposed...not terribly convincing.
