Founder Packages are available in less than 30 minutes (12 noon CDT) according to Russ Bullock on Twitter.
ETA: as of 1230 the servers were still down from the load their under. LOL. It's possible this game may be popular.... |

I'm still not fond of the FTP format, seems like "pay to win" to me but I guess theres nothing to it except watch and see what happens. |

Having played a few FTP games, few were straight-up "pay-to-win" (I avoid games like Combat Arms or Battlefield that seem to be that way). Take World of Tanks, for example. Sure, you can buy unique tanks, but they're not any more or less better than the ones you have to work for. Hopefully, any mechs that are buyable are just variants of other, available chassis. Either way, a PPC hitting a Hunchback is still a PPC, doesn't matter if the dude paid for it or earned it in game. Time vs. money and all that. Since it seems like MWO is modeled after the WoT set up, I'm hopeful. |

One thing I thought was interesting is that founders buyers get a lifetime 25% cbill earnings bonus, seems like pay to win to me. Keep in mind that I played all of the previous MW games but have no experience playing F2P games at all. |

Keep in mind that I played all of the previous MW games but have no experience playing F2P games at all. My understanding is that it is going to operate much like World of Tanks. In WoT, you can buy a premium account for about $12 per month (or cheaper). Basically, it increases your credit and experience income both by 1.5x. So, if you average 400xp per game and 10,000 credits it'd bump it up to 600xp per game and 15,000 credits. When it comes to grinding, if you're trying to get 20,000xp and 800,000 credits to get that next tank, the premium account just cuts down on the number of games you have to play to advance. It doesn't give you an advantage in that particular match, it just lets you advance faster. As for premium vehicles, they're not necessarily super tanks, they just get a credit boost so you can make your credits faster. A lot of the premiums are actually a bit underpowered but may get a match making advantage to offset that. Maybe MWO will be different, but if it operates like that, you're not really paying to win. |

WoT also lets you buy "preimum" ammo which has better penetration over standard ammo. I don't like the idea of someone having better HE penetration than someone rolling with standard AP ammo just because they have money to blow.

LEGENDARY, BABY
Murphy's Law My merc group is still looking for people, we have a couple open slots to fill up our company. We're mainly made up of real world veterans and have a lot of experience throughout the different MechWarrior games, from the tabletop to the MechWarrior series to MPBT. Arfcommers would fit right in. |

MW2: Mercenaries was the hot shit then ) but I did enjoy putting that one superfuckinglongrange missle on an Atlas and just controlling the battlefield from a disgusting standoff distance. I'll PM you for sure once I decide to take the plunge. |

Went Elite and chose the Atlas.
Always did prefer to get in close and slug it out. |

Yeah but you have until August 4th to spend that gold in WOT Legendary Founder's Pack, I'll be eating PB&J sandwiches and not shooting much, but I have 4 mechs to start with ![]() |
