The GDC lineup featured a specific presentation on the tech they're using to build the game on PS3. I assume the video is from said presentation. Just because it's a so-called PC-first title doesn't mean they're not going to show any console footage... ETA: In other news, it might be a good time to get in on some EA (NASDAQ:ERTS) stock. Apparently pre-order sales are doing quite well already and the stock got a boost in February on the tails of the original announcement.

The view from the tank has always been kind of screwy. It's on the wrong side for the gunner's sight and the field of view is way too wide. It would also be cool to have a thermal imager.

lol, look, BF3 is the next chapter of BFBC. same engine, same developers, it sucks but thats how it is
developers dont bring out anythign revolutionary in series, BF3 will have bigger maps better looking weapons more weapons more vehicals possibly more players more customization thats it. the maps are gong to be templeted off of the first two BFBC games and MOH. im looking forward to it, im pretty much done with COD, aka dont miss,aka modern killstreak,aka glitchers paradise,aka knives have more range then LMG's, |

I enjoyed BC2, the destruction added a much needed component/dynamic to multiplayer...
No more hiding behind a 2inch wall while a tanker tries to get some splash damage on you by some miracle. Also there is something compelling about hiding behind a building and all of a sudden it disintegrates as a shell comes through. Dice has a history of innovating and creating some epic games for PC (Mirror's Edge anyone?), and consequentially the console genre... I'm not too worried about BF3 being a great game, it is EA that concerns me. They don't have the reputation that Dice has, in my opinion. |

I tried the beta of MOH and didn't feel the desire to pick it up since it was exactly the same as BC, yeah the maps were smaller and the dynamics of the game were different as a result but its the same exact game.
BFBC had maps the were designed to use vehicles, the weapons, not sure really what went on there, lefty 416, cambering rounds regardless of if rounds were in the chamber or not ect... MOH wanted to compete with COD, made smaller faster maps, improved weapons, BF3 is going to build off both games. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, I pretty much only play BFBC2 these days and its still a great game. but alot of people are getting high hopes when we know how developers work these days. honestly this is what I would like to see in any first person shooter: just add to the game with as much hard drive space that the xbox has, there is no reason they cant, essentaily leave all the old maps, vehicles and weapons that were in previous games and as each new instalment comes out, add a handful weapons and vehicles. they have the files, its the same gaming engine, we have the space on our HDs to make it work, but no, they will put out a new instalment with 6 MP maps and the a couple extras here and there |

So is Battlefield 3 the first game that will get people talking about the current generation of consoles' age?
All this talk of the game being scaled down for consoles and how the PC version Crytek 2 is a generation ahead of the consoles, how long until Microsoft/Sony start talking about the next generation? All along, the powers that be have wanted to extend the life of the current generation as long as possible, especially after the 2008 economic crash. Thus why you see the so-called "slim" versions coming out and the booming motion market with Kinect and Move. With the motion products being so young, I don't see Msoft/sony making any big moves, but I wouldn't be surprised if they start working on the next level if designers start putting out better products on the PC. I remember when the old Medal of Honor games were vastly superior on PC compared to the consoles, and likewise the first run of Call of Duty. |

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor - 3.2ghz 2GB DDR3 RAM
GEForce 8600GTS I have this motherboard (actually bought this combo with the processor) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7101547&Sku=B69-5190 I really only had the processor and motherboard upgraded... and the memory needed to be replaced since I was going from DDR2 to DDR3. Better graphics card is a must as well, not least because you'll probably need DX11 to run BF3. I bought a 1gig GTX460 on a sale from newegg a while back, and I am happy with it compared to my old one, but I hear the newer GTX500-series are even better. I got a huge jump in performance from an old GTS250 I was using. As a point of reference, the GTS250 was a better card than your 8600 by a significant margin, and even it was obsolete when I replaced it. Your 8600 is really, really oldschool at this point. You might need a new PSU also, though the newer generation graphics cards are really getting power efficient so maybe not depending on what you have. With all of that said though, if you are looking at upgrading I might wait until later in the summer. Since the game isn't out until November, the longer you wait the better deals you will find on components, especially GPUs which are constantly shifting in price. Watch the sales too, and sign up for the daily deal emails from places like Newegg or TD. You can get some good 10, 15, or even 20 percent and higher discounts on GPUs and ram if you wait long enough. |

Well, I certainly like what I see so far. I love BFBC:2, only thing I don't like about it is, whats already been beaten/knifed to death (Snipers). Actually, I'd pay $120 for the game if they take the Recon/Sniper class completely out.

You say that until you wish there was someone spamming motion mines...or softening up that building that you are being gustaved from. Nick Not really.
I play with one guy that effectively uses the Recon class, and that's only on certain maps. Otherwise I see between four and six players a round sitting way off on the edge of a map not really doing anything to help win the game. It's annoying as hell. |

They are fun to knife though. Very rarely run that kit, but when I do, it's usually with the SVU, and usually building to building. And I DO spam motion mines like they are going out of style. Nick More snipers should play that way. |

My solution: Limit the class to 2-4 total, depending on how many is on your team at that given moment. I played a Day of Defeat server awhile back that limited the sniper class and it was wonderful. Also/or don't allow more than one sniper to use mortars over a period of time. Gotta love five snipers dropping mortars on the same location at the same time. |
