That first one almost killed me. I'm surprised I tried the first workout after the fit test. When you do your first "Level One" drill, remember that I am telling you they are easy compared to with what they are replaced with later. I just put my coffee table on top of them after my workout. I have a heavy bag hanging in my kitchen, so the mats in the living room match the decor. One of the few advantages of being single. I was anxious to see how my results improved, but with my work and workout schedule it would have been a couple months before I finished Insanity. I missed lifting so I switched to a P90X/Insanity hybrid workout. Now my workout is something like this: Day 1: P90X workout. Day 2: Jiu-Jitsu/MMA Day 3: Insanity Day 4: Yoga Repeat. |

P90X/Insanity Hybrid
Pure Cardio Max heart rate: 189 bpm Target Zone: 65%-90% Total Workout Time: 46:36 Calories burned: 700 AVG HR: 78% Max HR: 90% Time in Zone: 42:26 I had to take a few more breaks than usual. It may have been the heat. Ever since I took that Yoga class with the heat cranked up, I've been doing the same at home. I leave the A/C off during the day and it was 93 degrees in there last night. |

Misery loves company, haha.
Insanity Day 3, Cardio Power and Resistance, DONE! More pain, but it was not as hard as yesterday. Still a little harder than regular P90x Plyo, and then sprinkle in pushups! Shaun T just does not STOP. Toes feel better today. The one in the pic was the worse one and it popped last night (ew Tomorrow is Cardio Recovery (what the...? Oxymoron anybody?), so it will hopefully be relatively not hard. |

Yea, I know. I meant relatively not hard, as in it's shorter and hopefully I'll only need to take 5 or 6 breaks instead of 10-15. ![]() |

Insanity Day 4, Cardio Recovery, DONE!
Not really all that hard, although I don't think it was supposed to be. Reminded me a lot of the Yoga, but shorter. I didn't take an unscheduled breaks, but I did have to come out of the squat and lunge holds early. |

Where's Dan P been?
I forgot to write down my data, but last night I did Rodney Yee's Power Yoga for 58 minutes and 352 calories. |

Glad some of you are finally starting to do Insanity. I told you all about it and how good it was like a year ago.
FWIW - My workout shoes started taking a shit (I've had the same ones for years). So I just bought some of those Reebok Zigtechs and they're great for Insanity type of workouts. I am very happy of the cushioning they give on the ball of the foot, whereas most running shoes are just supported on the heals. |

My other half/workout partner has been out of town on business this week, and it was supposed to be a "recovery week" of P90X2. The recovery week of P90X2 doesn't do much for me, so I've been doing some free-weight workouts along with a few old school P90X workouts. I haven't been wearing my HR monitor, so not much to report. Tonight I had to mow the lawn. Air temp was an actual of 97 with a heat index of 104. Think I sweated out about 5lbs! We'll be back at it Sunday - and back with the daily reports. Dan. |

I've found that most running shoes don't have nearly enough lateral support for me when doing plyometric type moves. I wear old school Converse All-Star "Chuck Taylor" high tops when doing deadlifts and squats, and wear a pair of Nike Air Monarch IV for my P90X/P90X2 stuff. They are both relatively cheap and work well for me. Dan. |

Insanity Day 5, Pure Cardio, DONE!
Insanity sucks. I hate all this jumping. My calves can't recover from the last day before I have to start jumping around again. My upper body is going to atrophy because this workout is all lower and core. No pullups, no biceps, a few token pushups, but...meh. I watched the Cardio Abs after this video and it didn't look like even half as good a workout as Ab Ripper, and you only do it once a week?
This series just doesn't seem to be as well balanced at P90x. I might give this another couple weeks, but I'm not going to do the full run. I'm going back to P90x. YMMV. ![]() |

I didn't have any of the calf problems, but that may be because of the mats. One thing I did notice when I did nothing but Insanity, my cardio for stand up sparring at the MMA gym was through the roof. Here is the hybrid schedule that I am using with BJJ/MMA and Yoga thrown in: ![]() |

YMMV. ![]() Insanity is designed to be a cardio workout program, not bulk you up. Of course your calves are going to be sore... take some protein, man up, and keep with it. It's called Insanity for a reason. If you want to hit your biceps, just do some curls on Thursday when Insanity has the "off day." I would do that. Hell, I did weight training that whole off week. If you quit after a week, it's like watching the first 15 minutes of a movie and tuning it off. It was designed to work over the full nine weeks, and month two is where it's at. It would be a shame to quit before that, but that's up to you. |

Insanity Day 6, Plyometric Cardio Circuit, DONE!
Not as bad as the first time, but still butt kicking. I think I took one or two less breaks, and the ones I did were shorter than last time too. Still don't like it. My legs felt fine today. I think I'm getting used to the workouts now and my recovery is getting shorter. |

Insanity Day 8, Cardio Power & Resistance, DONE!
Still sucks. Hurts less, but i'm still wiped out at the end of the warm up. Only added 5 extra minutes of unscheduled breaks today, so I guess that's something. Although I did take some quick breaks in the middle of some things, but I didn't stop the clock. |
