Supplement store guys were giving away samples at the gym, I had never tried preworkout before, so told them get me a couple samples of that.  Holy hell, BOTH of them (different brands, different times) made me freaking flushed and tingly right afterwards (before workout)...is that normal?

What is preworkout good for, anyway, and what is anyone's preference?  (I already take creatine)

Beta-alanine is what you feel. Different pre-workout will tout different benefits. Generally speaking, they aim to improve focus, pump/vascular dialation, and energy.

Normal until your body gets used to it.  C4 used to do that to me...now it just takes away my post-work fog before i hit the weights.

As for what they are good for...well they wake you up a bit and help you get the most out of your workout.

This reminds me of the only time I was given Ultimate Orange back in the day.  My workout was great that night but I didn't get to sleep until 8:00 AM the next morning.    Good thing this was on a Friday night, otherwise work would have sucked the next day.

Beta Alanine is the stuff that's giving you paresthesia.  It takes a lot more niacin iirc, to get the niacin flush.  Otherwise, everybody would get the flush whenever they took a multivitamin.

OP, do you often take things without knowing what's in them and how it's going to effect you?

Sorry str8edge, live a little!

Jeez, its not like I was given meth or something.  It was from people who work at a local supplement store that are trying to get my business by giving me a product that I requested.  And figuring I don't really have any special medical conditions, yes, I had no problem trying any one of their marketed preworkouts.

But no, I didn't plan on running them thru the mass spectrometer and then writing a dissertation on how those chemicals react to the normal human body...YMMV

Oddly, I like the tingle part from beta alanine as well.

It motivates me to lift harder.
