So, I use the vandersoft app for the wendler 5/3/1 and love it. Makes workouts easy.

I want to do a half marathon in September. Is there a similar app that would help me prepare for that?

Map My Run is a useful training tool. Does GPS tracking and recording of your runs, splits, and can do audio cues to give your split times every mile.
It wont tell you how far to run though, or give you a training plan. Hal Higdon has a bunch of training plans here:

ETA:
Active.com has a half marathon App too called 13.one

I like strava for keeping track of distances and pace. I've tried a few others keep going back to Strava.

Someone told me about Nike+ Run Club. Sounds interesting but my old phone won't run it.

I had to de-activate and purge Nike  runClub...
used older version for a couple years... but the newest update was an entirely unworkable pain in the ass.
could not turn bloatware crap off, .

Been reading the amazon reviews on this. It looks good. What kind of results did you see with it? I want to get faster.

I've been using Red Rock Apps "Running for Weight Loss," but they also make one for specific distances.  I like the app I am using, it trains using intervals and I have noticed a good increase in my distances and pace already.

My biggest takeaways from that book are 1) the importance on consistency and frequency in endurance sports and 2) that most people misunderstand the purpose of the long run and make it too large of a percentage of their total weekly miles.
