Current Feb: 22.89 Removed all pace info off my watch (except mile notifications since I can't change that to display anything else) last week--have noticed my casual pace is 30-45 seconds slower just going alone off of trying to feel completely relaxed at all times. I know I'm crawling up hills at points. Did a baseline HR test this morning--not sure how I feel about its accuracy, but I'll take it for what it says. Started with a moderate paced mile to get warmed up and then did four sets of hill sprints--they were only about 100m each, but between the climb was about 40ft which works out to ~12.2% grade. Originally I had planned on doing more, but after seeing my heart rate max right after the first I didn't see how it would get much higher. I saw the same max on the second sprint and a just under during the third and fourth. Results show I have a max HR of 208 BPM--quite shocking considering the two methods for estimating HR are either 220 - age or 208 - (.7 x age). I'm waiting on the HR training book that Keen recommended to be delivered by Amazon, so until I finish it I'm just going to keep running without pace info and will probably start recording my easy run HR to see what it looks like View Quote Congratulations! If you feel like you're crawling uphill you're doing it right. I'd trust your HR test. The formulas are all very inaccurate, particularly the 220-age one (which was originally based on essentially a junk-science study in the 70's). 9.49 / 278.74 I'm over the bug DD2 brought home, but it left me with a sinus infection. Running while on antibiotics really sucks. |

Same route as this morning but more traffic. I got to try my new shoes out and they work great.
Also, when Strava syncs with my Garmin the distance and pace are right. I used my phone and NikePlus today. Strava is .35 miles off and shows a faster pace. 2.95/146.95 |

Have I told you how much I hate treadmills? Worst run I've had in weeks. |

I've missed logging a few days. This morning was
13.1 / 168.4 I managed a half marathon in 1:37:37. The last two miles were @ 7:12 pace. I won't be able to get to a race until April but I feel pretty good about the solo effort. |

I have been upping my pace a little at a time and doing longer (for me) runs. I am going to do a half on my own soon to see where I stand now. My goal is to finish under a 10min mile pace. |

I basically had to force myself out today. A week and a half of flu + sinus infection and a growing resentment towards running in the dark and cold has been draining my motivation. I just realized that I'm 2 weeks away from my first race of the year! |

After the hour of stairstepper and the treadmill, I am drenched in sweat. Its amazing what a difference 25 pounds makes. View Quote Yes it does make a difference. Before I went to Montana on a backcountry elk hunt in 2015 I did weighted hokes twice a week. By the time we went I was up to 4 plus miles twice a week with a 70lb pack. We are headed back to Wyoming in October so I will be working it back into my routine. |

I laid out this morning. I am headed out of town to quail hunt. Gonna try a crossfit workout at a gym a friend of mine owns. The WOD seems to have some running in it today. Taking tomorrow off and running a 10k Saturday.
