I tried it messing around after i did my normal thing and it seems like I might need to do it more to finish.

Good idea or bad?

Popular in floriduh.

Are you doing squats?  Don't be convinced that something is the best exercise just because you aren't used to it or it made you very sore.

I can't do cardio machines. They make me want to die of boredom

Back when I wanted a faster 2 mile time on my PT test, I used the stairmaster every other day. Did 20 minutes of intervals.  Dropped a couple minutes off my time over a month or two.  For me, its preferable to running because it is non-impact.  I am very prone to shinsplints so I get my cardio via stairmaster or swimming as much as possible.

When I trained for big-mountain climbing; rainier, baker, denali etc., I would spend 40-60 minutes on it every day.  Does wonders.

YMMV

Interesting.

SCW - nope, my gym doesn't have a squat rack just a smith machine

It just seems like it might be a good way to put the finishing touches on your/my muscles and push them to exhaustion.

I do 5x12 on leg extensions, leg curls, leg press, and calves. Then might start doing the machine for 20mins or so.

Do a real leg day and you wouldn't ask that question.

I would use it more for cardio/intervals/toning/endurance than strength.

If you dont have a squat rack work your way up to pistol squats.  Theyre a good alternative to "heavier" bodyweight squats. Plus they help balance and flexibility.

I use an elliptical for 1 mile on leg day for a warmup. 1/4 mile forward, 1/4 mile backward, 1/4 mile forward, 1/4 mile backward. Then lunges, squats, and deads

After all three of my knee surgeries they had me on those things. I hated them, but they work.
