250 swing plus 50 deadlifts at 225lbs. All barehanded, although I had to switch grip the last 10 deads, too sweaty to hold on and the bar has really fine knurling.
I hurt. |

I finished 2,000 swings this week, along with
20 115lb squat cleans 50 bench press @ 155lbs 100 strict press @ 105lb 50 pull ups 50 dips 50 dead lifts at 225lbs 50 front squats @ 205lbs I also started running after each session so I did 5 miles total on the treadmill this week A few thoughts- The CAP kettlebell sucks. Handle is too small, I can't fit my fingers on it very well. I have blisters on the insides of my ring fingers and I have to leave the pinkies out of the handle. The paint/coating also sucks, it chips easy and the parts under your fingers start to wear on your hands so callus and blister control is taking the stage again. I didn't have any of these problems when using bells with larger handles. It gets a lot easier really fast. At the beginning of the week I was splitting my second sets of 50 and 40, but now I can power right through them. I am a little worried about tennis elbow from overuse of the hands and forearms so I've been stretching them like crazy every day. I'm actually gaining ground and can get a better front rack than I did two weeks ago. Kaik is crazy for starting with that wrecking ball. |

I was gasping and wheezing pretty bad, I think the other people were getting ready to call 911. There's a noticeable difference in the 55lb bell at home and the 50lb bell here, I might be able to do it with a 63lb now, but I know I don't want to. Keep us posted on the ability to move tomorrow and monday Did you ever get your belt? I never saw your post from that if you did. BTW, what app is that? |

Squat racks and bars were all occupied at the gym today. Decided to give this a shot and see how it went. I did it as prescribed and used goblet squats in between sets. Finished in under 45 minutes. It honestly wasn't bad, not any worse than any normal metcon I've done. I used a 50# bell. I think hey have a 62# as well, I may give that a try after working through his a few times with different supplementary work.
I've always thought it was odd they don't make bell handles big enough to get a full two handed grip on them. |

I did get my 500 swings in today, 50 pull ups on the first set and 50 205lb front squats on the second. Those squats sucked, I need to do bigger lifts like that on the first set instead of the second, but I finished in almost exactly one hour. Bench press and strict press with the swings tomorrow. So you're saying I did good with my Rogue KB. Sure, as long as I don't have to swing it! I'm glad I eased into this a bit, it took me 4 days before I got 500 swings in a day (spread over 6 days) and that was with 55lbs. If I was doing a heavier bell I wouldn't be able to do as heavy of lifting with it, although I'm not sure that's really bad, just different. As it is with the 50 OHP and 50 bench press mixed in my arms hurt like hell for three days- and I only get one day of a break. I'll look when I get home this weekend to see what brand the local gym has, they have a nice wide, comfortable handle that I really liked. It's easier to swing those at 55lbs than the crappy ones at 50lbs. Did you get up to 300 or 400 swings in a day with that cannonball yet? |

Week 3, day 2...5000 swings completed. Halfway point! View Quote Are they much easier for you now? I'm on week 2 day 2 today- so 3,000 completed- and I had so much medical tape over the blisters on my fingers on both hands that it was hard to hold onto the bell. I keep forgetting how long this takes, the last two days I didn't give myself enough time to run afterwards which usually takes me another 20 minutes or so. I finished the swings/lifts in 47 minutes today doing 155lb bench presses (50) and 110lb OHP (30, then the other 20 at 105lbs). Definitely getting easier and my conditioning is far better than it was three weeks ago. I think I could have finished another three or four minutes faster if Sir TalksALot didn't want to tell me about steroids and his surgeries. |
|
Yes, it's getting easier. The CAP one from Amazon with the handle being a bit smaller is a benefit to me since I have smaller hands and it's easier to keep my grip.

Do a lot, fast, without rest and slip the strength training in with it. I guess the question is are you meeting goals better by getting fewer swings and heavy weights or more swing with lighter weights? With 50lbs and other lifts I can get myself smoked enough in an hour to need a few minutes just to walk to the car. That seems to be meeting my needs just fine. I need to start sprinting too. The ghetto gym has a prowler, but not a good place to use it. Maybe I should go to whacking the tractor tire with hammers and baseball bats. |
