For those out there that don't think you can do it, if I can do it anyone can!

All I have done is cut my calorie intake to 1600 calories a day and did some minimum activity like walking around our property or helping more around here instead of delegating things to be done to the kids.

Wow, great job!  That is really amazing.  I need to loose about fifty pounds and I always feel that I don't know where to start.

What was a typical day as far as your meals go?  How did you track your caloric intake?

I use the myfitnesspal app on my phone and it is also available in websight form, but before I found it I was writing it down.

It takes a little extra effort to keep track of it but the results are well worth the effort.
It also helps to have a scale handy to weigh portions

my complete food and activity diary from August on is available on the myfitnesspal app to anyone who friends me.( i am on there as Jdorlshagen)

And I have gone over the 1600 a time or two here and there just because I felt I needed a break once in awhile

I lost 3 lbs short of 100lbs a few years back using MFP. I was religious about logging and was motivated by my streak of days logging. One weekend I was away from my charger and my phone died. Got home late and forgot to log my calories.....boom, streak broke.

Lost all interest, kid you not. It's funny what motivates you.

They've made a few changes in the app. While I see why they won't keep the streak alive if you go back to log your calories, one of the new changes is it can be set to remind you to log. I'm at 20 days now. Down 65 total from my highest weight a few years back, 10 or so from this go around.

Good job OP!  Curious how old you are.
I've found that drinking lots of water, cutting back on carbs, being active first thing in the morning (no gym regime) and eating healthy(not counting calories) I can still easily lose weight in my mid 30s.

Good job OP.  I have been needing to lose weight and downloaded the myfitnesspal app on my phone.  It's a neat tool to have just for looking up calorie content.  Keep up the good work.

Great job OP! I'm down 120 from a year ago. I use the Loseit app. I believe logging in your caloric intake helps you stick with it.

Started on the Myfitness site last weekend (Sunday), between the caloric intake reduction and exercise have dropped 5lbs the first week. Have also upped my water intake. I have a similar goal to the OP.

I just saw this thread a week ago so I decided to try last Saturday.
So I bought a scale and start counting calories

Stat:
Age 46:
Height : 5-6
Start Weight : 186
Excercise Routine : Freeletics 4 times a week (HIIT)

At day 5, I lost 5 lbs.  At 181 lbs as I type this.  1600 calories per day.  Drinking a lot of water.  Plus home made veggie shake.  No processed food.  No refined food.
Very excited.
