There are two squat racks for what it's worth, and a lot of times if I'm in one the other is free. |

Kind of a dick move to deadlift or do rows in a rack, but if theres a second one and you're willing to move then its not too big of a deal. Mil press from a rack is totally fine.

I do press, bench press, pull ups, and up right rows in the squat rack as long as no one is waiting for it.

This^^^ What's the point of doing deads in a rack? The weight doesn't get much past mid-thigh, and if you got it up there, you ought to be able to let it down safely.
Fwiw, I do my upright rows off the spotter arms on my half-rack...but I'm the only one using my home gym. |

squat rack =/= power rack
Power rack is almost necessary for strictly OHP (ie, not clean to rack position). If you are doing straight up DLs and not rack pulls, move aside. Upright rows are best stationed at a rack, but not necessary. |

I do my presses on the front of the power racks because there's a weight platform there. We've only got two power racks and a squat rack in our gym. Most of the people there congregate on the treadmills and machine rotation so the racks are usually pretty empty. Basically it depends on available rack space.

Presses are acceptable. Rows... I guess it's okay to use one of those trapezoidal racks, not the cage, maybe if someone doesn't want to deadlift the weight due to a back issue. I see so much more douchbaggery at the gym that stuff like this doesn't bother me much.
The deadlift: you don't need the rack unless you are doing rack pulls which is not a deadlift. Find some space on the floor. |

You're not the guy that does 2cm rack pulls hitches are you? Some people make the mistake of calling those deadlifts.

I mainly use the squat rack for curls. Curls and thigh abduction

people curling in the rack make my blood boil. They typically re-rack at thigh level as well, the lazy bastards.

I understand what y'all are saying about deadlifts, but the main problem I have is, the space around the squat racks is the ONLY space in the lifting area of my gym where you have enough room to do deadlifts without getting in everyone's way. All the other benches are too close together and the dumbell area is always really crowded, so it's the squat rack area or nothing.
Also, where else could you do military presses? |

My last gym was about the same way as far as space to DL goes.
I'm sure a lot of the pro lifters in here like to do their military presses/OHPs on the smith machine. |

Some gyms are more free weight/strength training oriented than others, and in those gyms you'll often find dedicated mil press benches.
It's kind of a single-use item, so "fitness centers" are far more likely to purchase a treadmill, elliptical, or something similar instead. |

We have one of those, and I use it for seated presses, but I was referring to standing presses. |

Yeah... military press should be standing.
