Finished up the 5K program last Sunday. All-in-all, I'd say it's a pretty good program that helped me get off my ass. Now I have to motivate myself instead of just following instructions.
I've been doing the 100 pushups as well. I'm on the last week but far from finished, as I think I'll have to repeat the week a couple times. |

I had my first setback with Couch to 5K tonight. I started Week 4, Day 1 tonight and made it fine through everything until the last 5 minute jogging section and ran out of steam half way through.
Pissed me off but I just didn't have anything left to keep going. I was out of breath. I was also running tonight with a buddy and noticed that my min/Mile time was about 30 seconds faster than it was on the last job. I'm not sure if the slightly faster pace contributed. I'm going to rest tomorrow and try it again on Monday. |

Don't sweat it. It was just Day 1 of the week. It happened to me a couple times, as well.

I kinda forgot about this thread.
Still doing the c25k program although I had a gap of a couple weeks where I wasn't able to do it so I have basically started over at week 2 to help build back up. Week 2 day 1 was yesterday and I completed it without any problems. Keeping up with the hundred pushup program has been easier, but I'm progressing slowly in that. I *am* getting stronger every day but I am just not able to do the workouts like the "test" thinks I should. I also had to take a little time off from that but I've been back with it for about 2 weeks now. As for the progress in the pushup program, I've been sticking with the middle column as that's where my test results put me, but sometimes i find myself running outta steam right at the end. If so, I repeat that workout the next workout day. Seems to be working so far but it's making my progress comparable to watching paint dry. That being said, I can see and feel a difference though. I know the program is working and that gives me motivation. I don't remember what my initial test was but it put me in the middle column (6-10) and I can now do *way* more. Progress! |

c25k week 2 day 2, no problems, and shaved 2 minutes off day 1's time. I actually felt like I was going slower, didn't get nearly as winded but according to the tracker i went slightly farther, and slightly faster. progress?
Also, did the test for week 3 of the hundred pushups yesterday, right in there column 2 again. |

I went last night after the rain stopped and rain this again and finished. I did it at a faster pace than what I finished Week 3 with so I was pretty pleased.
I did struggle again at the last 5 minute jogging portion and was able to push through it. I'm sure my neighbors would have thought I was strange for jumping with my hands in the air when I completed the workout if they had seen me. Originally Posted By toyotaman:

Good job all! I just started using the app. I figured running is the best exercise, as it's a good survival skill. It improves your odds greatly if you can outrun your opponents and/or zombies. ;)

I never finished the program. I did day 1 of week 8 and just stopped using it. I still run 3-4 days a week, I go for 30-45 minutes of walking / running and enjoy it.
I have run 3 5k races since starting the program. My first race I ran in 39 minutes back in May. The last 2 races I ran in 32 minutes. I am pleased with the results. I am 47 and 40 lbs overweight. I quit smoking in April after 30 years of Marlboro reds. I was bad out of shape. Couch to 5k cured that. |

In a hotel parking lot!?!?! UGH! But way to go man. Yep. I was in houston from tues-fri, and the hotel I was staying in was right by the interstate and several busy roads. I *really* hate treadmills and exercising inside so as roads were out, the parking lot was it. The uneven surface and multiple elevation changes added an interesting dynamic.

Week 3 day 1 - finished. Struggled near the end but made it.
That was a bit rough. I survived, though. progress! |

Running in a parking lot, way to go.
That's working for it. |

Yeah as much as I hate the dreadmill I would have done it on that! |

A general question about C25K. I finished Week 4 finally after a couple of do-over's on Friday. The end of Week 4 is alternating jogging between 3 and 5 minutes.
As I look ahead to Week 5, Day 3 the instructions are to warm up for 5 minutes of walking and then jog for 20 minutes. How does it skip from 3 minutes of jogging to 20 in just a week? |

To be honest, that part kicked my butt. But just keep with it. I remember starting that session thinking there was no way. I think I made it 18 minutes strait and had to walk the last bit. You'll do better than you expect.

Slow and steady. Your body can do more than you think it can, it's a mental block. |

week 3 day 2, completed no problems.
i *almost* ran outta gas the last minute or so of the jogging, but I pushed through. I was rewarded with a burning sensation in my lungs that i haven't felt since i was in the navy when i'd run. uncomfortable but at the same time it made me feel good because i know i went outside my comfort zone a bit and will become stronger as a result. i pushed myself a little harder this time, as a bit of a test to see just what kind of progress i've made so far. looking back, week 1 day 1's exercise was 1 min jogging, 1.5min walking for a total of 20 minutes. When I started this program, that kicked my ass so bad I had to repeat a few times to pass it. week 3 day 2 was 1.5/1.5 3/3 repeated twice, and i kicked its ass. progress! ![]() |

That's great to hear. It's so strange to look back at myself jst a few weeks ago and see how much I struggled. The amount of progress you can make with this program is amazing. Thanks for tipping me off to it. Keep up the good work, and you'll be at the end sooner than you think.

I just got back from running 1.1 mile in 8 minutes 14 seconds!
That is hauling ass for me. Beat my old personal best by 2 minutes. I have been running 1 mile every Monday and a 5k a month. I just completed the first week of Power 90 and running once a week is all I am willing to do during the program. |

I know this isn't a real "Couch to 5k" progress report, but a little motivation for some of you struggling/doubting.
I did Couch to 5k back in February of 2010 since then I've done 3 marathons 5 half marathons 1 10k 1 10 miler 8 5k's 2 half ironmans 2 sprint triathlons 1 olympic distance triathlon and at the end of next month I'll do another half ironman, and in November I'll attempt my first full Ironman. If you have the desire you can and will do more than you ever thought. |
