Still working on dinner, which is basically beef and onions (simmered for an hour and a half or so in a little milk, green chiles, etc) but I have had a few small bites of peanut butter.
Less than a serving (two tablespoons) Of crunchy Natural Skippy. Ingredients: roasted peanuts, sugar, palm oil, salt Four grams of carbs per serving of two tablespoons. |

Why no vegetables?
I assume you're not eating a pile of green chiles. |

DAY FOUR Thursday, 10 May 2012
Morning weight: 255 Lift: Bench deload, T-bar rows, reverse hypers Breakfast: coffee shake- three scoops Carnivor, 2T instant coffee, 3oz half and half, fill shaker to top with water. Thought about having a cup of Chobani, but I want to run this for a minute and see how carbs vs energy vs fat loss is working for a minute. Lunch: a pound of smoked beef brisket (no sauce) and a small side of cole slaw- no sugar, according to the lady at the counter. Not sure if I believe her. Dinner: Pepperoni and shredded cheese with romaine in a low carb tortilla. Some tea. Who knew pepperoni (at least the bag of Hormel pepperoni I have) is zero carb? Sure it's high in fat, cholesterol, and sodium but that's not the point! Maybe a little peanut butter later. |

Just curious do you have a number of grams you stay under or just keep it as low as possible?

Why is the amount of instant coffee changing? Are you changing the amount based on how much caffeine you want/need for the morning?
Also, how is that shake you're making? Is it "meh, okay I'll drink it" or "wow, that's good"? |

What does the half and half add to your shakes? Makes them thicker/more filling?

I have normally done 2T coffee in the shake as a rule, but the Carnivor has a light enough flavor that the coffee makes the shake overall sharper/more acidic tasting than I would like, especially with not using 2% or whole milk. It's a taste thing. If I could get away with 3T coffee in the shakes, I would.
You have to play with ratios of ingredients for your own taste, but I like the shakes a lot. check out freeproteinshakerecipes.com Originally Posted By GUNGUY148:

The shake as a whole is basically my breakfast and my morning coffee combined and it's cheaper and better nutritionally than getting Starbucks and a muffin in the morning as far as my needs go. |

As to milk, for low carbing I am going to be putting the milk down save for special occasions, hence this morning's shake with half and half and water as the only liquids. Half and half has many fewer grams of carbs per serving than milk, as does heavy cream. And it's freaking lovely. And as to some other comments- peanut butter is fine in moderation. My "bites" are probably less than half inch diameter spheres if you want volume- so in total, equal to or less than one serving in a go. Six grams of carbs, I think in a serving? Low carb tortillas? about the same- six or seven grams each. As I cycle down, flesh out meal planning, and make more grocery trips, the carbs will get lower per meal and overall per day. Be patient, people. You aren't the ones cycling down. Aside from you, DT. Hank, Don't know about your tortillas but these have a net of 5: Ole Extreme Wellness Pic of wrap last week with tortilla:
I've had good luck with NATURAL peanut butter. I also use Polander All Fruit SF preserves. Don't think it's not "sustainable" because I've been doing this since OCTOBER of last year. I have ONE cheat meal a week and I still am a lightweight. If you want to go ZERO carb on the bbq sauce, go over to the diabetic section. The sauce is thin but it is tasty, and the ketchup isn't bad. I will say the spaghetti sauce sucks though. |

And I didn't think of the diabetic section- have to check it out. Did figure out that salsa is low carb, so if I could find some zero carb chips, that would be the bomb-dizzle. Maybe make some out of the low carb tortillas? And I am seeing more that the diet would be perfectly sustainable with the right planning and discipline- the guy that runs chaosandpain.blogspot.com (left cold- MAJOR NSFW but a really good diet and training blog) has a lot of good info on essentially zero carb dieting, history of it through the ages, and developed his own diet. I need to post that in the other thread as well- Rictus would get a kick out of it. |

I need to post that in the other thread as well- Rictus would get a kick out of it. The diabetic sections had things I was afraid to try, but so far the only thing I've had that is HORRIBLE is that spaghetti sauce that's zero carb/zero calorie. The BBQ sauce and the ketchup are both not bad, but they are thin. I use the ketchup to top my meatloaf with and that way I only have to mix in a single tablespoon of tomato paste to thicken it. Tomato paste has some carbs based off the tomatoes being a fruit rather than a veggie, and organic brands with no added corn syrup or sugar are naturally lower in carb. I load up at farmer's market on broccoli, brussels sprouts, zuchhini, mushrooms and beans. Lima beans are loaded with protein and while their carb count is high, you get to subtract the fiber. If you plan and balance the rest of your day, you can have them. I keep to the same salads you do––romaine, green and red leaf and spinach leaves. I'm going to IM you my number. If you don't mind a short drive, call me and I'll give you half that loaf in the freezer to try before you buy. It will keep in the refrigerator for about a week. |

No, his is pretty hardcore- almost nothing but meat and protein shakes. Check it out when you get a chance at home or what not. Check at home, but I think he has a "work safe" (no bad pics) at chaosandbang.blogspot.com. Hadn't looked at it yet to verify content at all. |
