The other half is what I am worried about.

I don't  really do many jerks. I was just goofing off to see if I could.

And even still, not all of those guys were.

Coach B always used to say something when you notice someone with strange tendencies like this. He'd say "What do you tell a guy that looks up while he snatches 150kg?...Not a damn thing....now until you snatch 150kg you're going to listen to me"

I'm just saying it's a training scar from catching cleans then not looking back down.

Fixed!

ETA- I looked up average weight/height for weightlifters, and it looks like I really should be lifting in the 94kg class anyway. That's just heavier than I've ever been and my running has really gone to shit.

Raise chin so it doesn't hit you in the face.

I raise my chin on a clean when I look down my nose at KaiKs cleans.

Nice job though, KaiK.  Since my wife got a good bar she's noticed her grip is so much better than the PRs are coming fast.  You'll be up at 300lbs in no time.

I've dropped down to 245 just by eating clean.  Still 4-5k cals per day.  But I fear that I've lost some strength  I struggled with 315x2 front squats this morning.  A month or so back I hit 355x2.  Maybe it's sleep, but I think my body's trying to tell me to choose between eating clean and being strong.  So I had snack mix and a party pizza for lunch.  That should help.

Just eating more...with the T the weight came quickly and easily- I'm still fairly lean. Not as lean as I was a year ago, but still pretty lean. I definitely need to lose some fat but I'm not real concerned about it. I figure it will naturally come off (and the water weight) as I ramp up the training.

If that's a real concern then you're doing it wrong.

ETA- what I'm saying is the bar should never be higher than your shoulder/catch position- so it can never hit your face.

I ask because I was having trouble recovering, but I think I've solved that now, with some diet changes.

Now I'm interested how guys going for serious strength gains are doing it.

No, more like 2 on 1 off, or 3 on 1 off depending on my schedule and how I feel. Occasionally 2 rest days in a row if work forces it.

Actually, I've done it with a snatch but not a clean. A slight head tilt? Sure, probably. Looking up? No. I don't. And you shouldn't either. Neutral spine just like everything else.

Once I was warming up to snatch, just snatching with an empty barbell.  Fucking nailed myself right in the forehead.  Made a hollow sound that echoed in the gym.  Literally saw stars for a minute.  Not sure how that happened, but it sure as hell did.  I've hit my chin a few times jerking as well.

That sucks!! What's the plan?

That does suck. Time to focus on pullups.

I would love to do that, but I can't see how my body would allow it.

Takes time to build to there.

Yup. What I do casually now would have wrecked me four years ago.

I've only been lifting for just under two years now, but I was pretty farm strong....

Recovery is a big concern for me, it's been two days since I did that 100 squats in 15 minutes and I'm still a complete wreck.  Walking upstairs sucks, walking downstairs and I look like a 95 year old concrete worker.

Good sleep has been helping, eating a lot more protein has helped too.  Basically quitting my job was really good for me.  I'm a lot better now at getting 200+ grams of protein, lifts have been immediately improving from it and I'm lifting about 4 days per week, but that's more based on schedule than recovery.

Meds for the sciatic pain and to lower the inflammation in the disc my back. The inflammation causes pain, that causes more inflammation. Lots of mobility when I can. I'll take a month off from lifting. This has happened before. The last time was when I think I did the damage to the disc. It was more of a catastrophic failure while under weight. Well documented in the links below. I had these saved in a file. This time it's ongoing pain that's keeping me from sleeping, walking normally, and standing up strait. I was trying to work around and through the problems. But lifting is supposed to help enhance life and not make it miserable. When I finally relized that, I decided to go get looked at.

Now that I'm all hopped up on norco, time to go operate some heavy equipment. Digging footings and loading out dirt... Should be ok. Worst that could happen, is I'll crash into my house.

Right now I'm doing the 5x5 (slightly modified) so I'm squatting 3x a week and alternating between rows/bench and ohp/dl.

Nothing, it was a last minute date so she had a birthday party to get to. She was ok. Had an annoying laugh and was "off-season" so was thicker than her pics. Probably would have still hit it

She's been texting me a lot since then but I'm kinda indifferent now.
