The TNV/PVS-14B (Blem) Night Vision Monocular is a limited availability system that offers you incredible performance at a steep savings. The TNV/PVS-14 has earned a reputation as one of the best PVS-14 night vision monoculars on the market due to the higher spec standards in which the image tubes are held. TNVC has contracts with the image tube manufacturers and they are usually really good at meeting our higher specs. But every now and then, we take delivery of a few tubes that do not quite make our cut. These units are still really great tubes with high specs on the data sheets, but they may have a couple more blemishes than we are comfortable putting in a regularly-priced TNV/PVS-14. We consider these units to be "blem” tubes. Refer to the accompanying images for examples of these blemishes.
The blem tubes in TNV/PVS-14B night vision systems are still higher spec than most any other tube on the market (including the tubes put into factory-built units). These blem tubes all fall well within the factory aesthetic spot spec as well. But since TNV/PVS-14’s are held to a higher standard, these tubes just barely did not make the cut. So now you can benefit further from our overly-cautious technicians by getting a TNV/PVS-14B with a tube that would easily pass factory inspection for a fraction of the normal price.
TNV/PVS-14B’s are only available when we have tubes that meet our definition of a blem. Lead times may vary depending on the monthly shipments of image intensifier tubes from L-3 and ITT Exellis. Also, they are only available in black PVS-14 housings. We would stack these "blem” units up against any other Gen3 PVS-14 on the market since their paper and spot specs are actually better than most other offerings. But TNV/PVS-14’s have a legend to uphold and you don’t get to the top by compromising on quality specs.
The PVS-14 is the standard-issue night vision optic serving US forces on the front lines of the Global War on Terror. Its phenomenal versatility makes it the premier choice for Law Enforcement Professionals as well. PVS-14’s can be mounted on helmets for hands-free use, behind weapon optics, or simply as a handheld device. As a monocular, the PVS-14 provides Gen3 night vision aid to one of the operator’s eyes, leaving the other to retain its natural night-adapted vision. This is important when changing light conditions in the field cause the user to go back and forth between aided and un-aided vision. Military and Law Enforcement operators need the ability to instantly switch between night vision and white light as the situation develops.
