This is an awesome video, where Angelo from FLIR explains how to zero a FLIR RS Thermosight. This method carries over to all other thermal dedicated scopes as well.

One question. He appears to zero at 1x. Is there any shift based on 4x or other? |

A more "precise" way to do it could be to take a few longer staples and put four in close proximity so that you can take a quarter and bend the staples down to hold it. Then take a little torch and heat up the quarter real quick.
More work, but a little more "precise" then a larger hand warmer. |
