Hi I was at an Academy in Kenner LA yesterday and found some Honardy Black ammo. They had several calibers in stock so I bought a hundred rounds in 6.5 creedmore, came out to a buck a bang. Any info on it? Is it the same load as the American Gunner, both are loaded with 140 bthp.
Thanks
Dave

More than likely the same as the American Gunner. It's been confirmed it's the same 140 BTHP. Usually the American Gunner is a little cheaper too.

It was also confirmed it's an academy "special run" of ammo as other places selling the Black ammo (like Cabelas) do not sell Black 6.5 CM.

If you can, compared it and the American Gunner and get velocity data of both back-to-back

I got a chance in Friday to hit the range. The Honardy Black is sub moa in myRPR. Hell my rifle likes it better than Percision Hunter 143 Eld. I shot twenty rounds of black,  twenty rounds of whitetail Hunter 129gr and ten rounds of Percision Hunter 143 eld in four hours. I took my time and let the barrel cool down ( during I shot my M1a)  at twenty rounds I ran a bore snake a few passes.  Unfortunately I don't have a chronograph to get ballistic results. The bad part was I went to a New range and cannot go retrieve my targets. The RSO staples new ones up ever hour or so, I guess I'll pick up one of those iPhone mounts to takes pictures through my scope.

I also tried the 308 black in my new Tikka CTR and was Very impressed with it. .80 at 100 and was hitting 12" gongs at 500 with it. It's running slower than most other factory loads since it's developed for gas guns but I'm happy with $19.99 a box so I'll keep shooting it.

I have a Bergara LRP 6.5CM. The Hornady Black shoots very well....many groups .5 moa or better (all 5 round groups). I think you'll give up some performance to the ELD 140 gr at distance, but for working on accuracy/group size....it's great for non-reloaders.
