just measured one of my 308 rifles for COAL.
What say you, is .200" to much of a jump? :) Rem 700 AAC SD cartridge head to lands - .002" = 3.010". Have any of you measured your REM 700, and if so how close are you? Even if I could get longer than max COAL loads to fit in the mag it would be cutting super close to leaving .308" of bullet in the neck. FC Case trimmed to 2.010" Bullet: Nosler Ballistic SilverTip 168g. 1.311" thanks, D |

That's typical for a Remington chamber. They are all long. You just need to find a bullet that will work with the longer jump. You can't really load longer than about 2.825" and still load the internal mag but if you get a DBM you can go longer out to about 2.920" with Accurate Mags.
Along with the bullet you have try some bullets like the Sierra 175s, Hornady 178 BTHPs etc that aren't super jump sensitive. |

My Remmy chamber has 155 Scenars touch the lands at 2.963 so I load them at 2.948.
