I love my pair of FN SPRs! The one in the background is a .308 a5m tbm, the one in the foreground is an a5m tbm converted to 6cm by SAC. Both are great shooters!

New to me--older SPR A1.  Non-fluted, non-threaded 24" barrel.  Chrome lined, chambered in .308 with a 1/12 twist.  Came with a Near Mfg base and a 10rd mag, and from the look of the bolt/bolt face, had probably not been shot more than 20rds.  Vortex PST 4-16 SFP, Wallyworld bipod and a DIY paracord sling.  She's a heavy pig, but I'm really liking her

Still developing loads for it, but I've found a couple that are reliably sub-MOA.....although truth be told, this rifle shoots better than I ever will.

M1AJunkie,
Do those cheek rests ever move when you don't want them to?  Nice rifles.

To be honest, I shoot with the risers all the way down so I've never really had them move. I do continuously have the screws coming loose however, and I actually lost one during a match. One of these days I should get around to adding loc tite to hold them in place.

I've got an a3g that I ran just under 6500rds through it, it still shot great when I had it rebarreled.  Jay cutright rebuilt mine, trued it all up and used a m24 5r Bart in 6.5 creed. Bedded action and bottom metal in and cerakoted armor black. I run a 5.5-22 nxs on it and with 140 horn hpbt it will hammer in the .2s.

The cheek rest will fall down, the solution is to make a piece of delving that fits in the bottom of the slot.  Cut it so that it holds the cheek rest at the correct height, this also makes cleaning bore easy when it's time to reinstall cheek piece.

If you don't mind, what are some of your recipes? I just burned thru enough cheap 308, to have enough brass to sit down and load some up.

Probably going to start with Sierra's 168 gr hpbt.

On mine, with the single center bolt, you can. Not sure about the ones that have two bolts.

Win brass trimmed to 2.005"
CCI LR Mag or Win LR (tried both, didn't see any difference between them--maybe a 5 FPS increase with the magnum)

Hornady 168gr BTHPM
42.0gr Varget or 42.5 IMR 4064
2.870" COAL and no crimp--they fit my mag, but don't have a lot of wiggle room.
2550 FPS from my 1/12 twist 24"

Same recipes also work in my rifle with 178gr AMAX and 175 SMK but speed drops to 2465 FPS.

155gr SMK Palmas seem to do well with 44.5gr Varget and hit 2650--haven't tried them with 4064 yet.

*Reduce powder charge by at least 1 grain if using LC 7.62 brass.

(Ignore the 1.750 COAL note--it's 2.870.  I was packing up and brain farted)  The last group fired was the left/top. (two groups at the big dot) Those 5 rds can almost be covered by a dime and all can be covered with a quarter.  I don't claim to be a precision shooter--I'm still learning and I have a long way to go.....from the vertical stringing on all my groups (except that really good one), I think I have breathing or recoil management issues.

Thanks. Showed this to my boss, I'll be using his press until I buy my own. He has 4064 on hand, so I'll be using that. Pretty sure most of my brass is LC. I'll definitely pick up 168s, but may also get 178 or 180s. Thinking about do 50/50 with the empty brass I have. Looking forward to getting to the range, and seeing what mine likes best.

Maximum loads in Lake City brass is 41.5 grains of IMR-4064 when using 168 grain match bullets. My generic accuracy load that I know works well from all my rifles (semi-auto and bolt action) and is safe in every rifle I have fired it through is 40.5 grains of IMR-4064 in Lake City brass and Winchester standard large rifle primers. I use 2.800" as my OAL".

A3g "upgraded" my Leupold Mk4 3.5-10 with a Steiner 3-15X50 with MSR.  Also added a CDI lower metal and Badger Ord NV mount for shits and giggles.

Nice. Could we get a closer shot of the NV mount. I'd like to do the same thing, for the same reason. Did you have to make any modifications to the stock?

I did.  I sent my rifle to Gruning Precision to install the CDI bottom metal.  Manufacturer said it would need some modification to the stock, so ifiguured since I was sending it out anyhow... picked up the Badge NV rail for about $180 and had Gruning put it in at the same time.  There is inletting involved and I think he charger me $100-150.  He does great work BTW and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any preicision rifle work.

ill see about attaching pics tomorrow.

Didnt feel like like taking mine apart.  Found these on the interwebs.

These here guys will do it for $125 and offer the mount for $175, which is pretty reasonable.

Here is an older pic.  I upgraded the optic form the Vortex PST to a Kahles 624i.  Took it to a LRR class at Gunsite and it worked great.  A little bit on the heave side but its a sub MOA shooter easily.

Yes it is. With the M5 Mil dials and TMR. I love it. Perfect power for 1,000 yards in my opinion.

I love my Steiner, but the Luopy Mark 4s are a near perfect compromise between weight, dimensions, performance, durability, and cost.  Especially if you plan on hunting/stalking with it.
