While accurate I am having to add .2-.5 mil on elevation once I get out to 750y+. I think the throat is wearing out and losing pressure. I'm waiting on a PVA 20" barrel to show up at the moment. |

I'm getting around 2750fps with 140 Elds and h4350, like to get more speed but started to get ejector marks at 42.5 grains which was an excellent accuracy node. |

What's good sub $50 bipod?
Also so if I get a .308, and then decide I want to shoot 6.5 I just swap out the barrel? |

Don't cheap out on the bipod. Seriously.
Get the Harris non swivel at a minimum. But I'd say spend the $100 on the swivel model. You will regret not getting the Harris at a minimum. ETA: yes it's a barrel swap assuming you have an armorers wrench and a go gauges. |

So I went to Sportsmans Warehouse and picked up a .308 tonight. Sadly all three had dings on the bolt knob. Guess I'll be calling ruger on Monday.

Use the money saved to buy ammo , brass , optics , etc. |

So I took it out and got it somewhat zeroed in. Well as good as I could with 1980s production military surplus 308 and some wolf 308 that I had in the garage. |

After 2 months I finally got a day off and it didn't rain all day. Got to the range and zeroed my RPR 308 at 50 yrds then at 100 yrds. i was shooting Ultramax 168gr re-manufactured hunting ammo. It shot very well out of my rifle. I have attached a couple photos of the shot groups. Nothing fantastic but decent groups. I have a total of 80rds thru the rifle at this point. A popular comment by owners is to get 120 to 140rd thru the gun and the groups will tighten up for better accuracy. Once I get 120 - 140rds thru the gun them I'll start shooting the premium ammo that I have in stock.

Anyone using Spuhr Mount with a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27?
Trying to figure out which mount height I should get. I'll be shooting with an Omega with cover. The 1.50" (SP-4002) or the 1.73" (SP-4008) mount. I haven't deceided if im going to use a pad on my cheek rest or not. I have an AD-Recon-H (1.97") laying around and slapped on a spare Vortex PST 6-24 (30mm), and it was crazy high, so, im not looking at the taller Spuhr 1.89" (SP-4004) mount. |
|
|
While not the same I have the razor HD in the 1.5 spuhr mount.
Works great. Could of gotten away with the 1.35 as well. |

Start shooting from something other than a nice pre-made range and you will find the draw backs of the harris glaring. Yes there are other options than the atlas for quality bi-pod's. But the Harris is realistically a relic of 1960's tech that needs to be retired. |

View Quote After a few decades of field shooting and mixed bench use I have never been left wanting for more using a Harris or a set of crossed sticks in the field before I had a decent bipod. I prefer the non- swivel version so go figure........ If you really think an Atlas will make you shoot better than a Harris or "other" brand you have issues, or your rifle does, lol! |

Well, I did it.
I placed my order for a Ruger Precision Rifle. In 6.5 creedmoor. I ordered it from Cabelas, while they are not the cheapest, they do have double reward points for firearms purchases, so 10% back. And I already had $1,250 in rewards to use, so it costed me $300, but I got $160 back. But I got me a RPR on the way. Now just waiting on Vortex Viper PTS Gen_2 . 5-25 to show up.... I am thinking really hard about going ahead and pulling the trigger on the SilencerCO__Radius while Brownells has them on sale for $500 . |
