I'm picking up a 455 to use as a trainer for my match rifle to be able to shoot more. What have you guys used on rimfire? My match rifle has a Bushnell XRS with the G2 tree reticle in it, I'd like something like that. I'd also like to stay around the $300 range if at all possible. Which leads me to the Athlon Midas BTR, Primary Arms ACSS R Grid, and Cabelas Covenant. It seems like the Athlon's are hit or miss, some love them and some say they are junk. Havent seen much on the other two.

Thoughts?

I have a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16x42mm on my .17hmr standard.

It allows me to see well enough to do this at 100yds with relative ease:

That looks good. I'm thinking now of repurposing an SWFA 3-15 for the time being and see how it does.

I'm running an Athlon Argos,  it's a bit over your budget at about 350 but probably within range.

I like the argos cause it focuses down as short as about 25 feet, which is awesome for a .22.  My vortex wouldn't focus under 50 yards, so being able to focus down that close is nice for a scope that goes out that far too.

Athlon Argos BTR 8-34x56 on both of my precision 22LR's. As stated above, being able to focus down to 15yds and out well past 300yds: the Argos is a great optic at an excellent value.

BLDTYRY, I can't tell for sure.... Are you using a pic rail and rings or a dovetail mount on that CZ?

Is the Athlon usable at max magnification or does it lose a lot of clarity? I'm really thinking about getting the 6-24 version but I might be interested in going with higher power.

Thanks for pointing out this scope and the super close parallax capability! Would be a good optic for my CZ 455.

ETA - My CZ got a new chassis and Athlon scope

I use a SWFA 10X on top of a DIP 20MOA rail.  Works great out to 300.

I went Athlon Midas, good deal can be dad. track well, glass is very good, love the reticle. the turrets are a little soft, but the glass quality and price make up for it.

Left my 32X Mueller for the Midas.
