I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a budget rim fire bolt so I don't need to burn through a lot of 308 and 6.5 CM (hell, even good 22 is still half the price of good 223). I would prefer a bolt action I think just due to accuracy potential, but the after market support of the 10/22 is hard to pass up.

Any help on which direction I should go?

For the money, I've been very impressed with my Savage MkII FV-SR.  Cost me $230 for the rifle, then dropped it into a Boyd's stock, bipod, and scope.

I have the Savage Mark II FV-SR in .22LR and Ruger American Rimfire in .17 HMR and both are tack drivers.

Always suppressed and always hearing safe.

Get both

Ruger American Rimfire.

Adjust the trigger to ~3lbs (not crisp, more like a nice squish) and smooth the bolt with Flitz and a bunch of cycling.

Bolt handle position and factory stock feels better than the Savage.

Off the bench with scope or irons, it's about 1-1.5 MOA capable at 100yds. Slung prone, slow fire and rapid fire, I can only manage about 4 MOA, but I think adjusting the stock screw torque or replacing the stock with a Boyd's might cure that.

I have the CZ 455 16.5" threaded. Put a PA 4-14 FFP mildot on it and it's completely bone stock. It loves American Eagle red box 38 grain HP's. These groups were shot at 50 yards, 10 shot groups.Attachment Attached File

CZ 455 tacticool threaded comes with a boyds stock, and is very accurate.  I have the same setup as the poster above with the pa ffp mil dot scope, hard to beat the combo for practice.

You'll def want a 25 moa base, that 22lr drops pretty quick.

CZ for $475
