Why the hell is it so hard to find bullet lengths? Hey bullet manufacturers, list the fucking length of your bullets......sectional density.... why the hell do you list that? That is easy to calculate.
JBM has a good list but not complete. http://www.jbmballistics.com/ballistics/lengths/lengths.shtml#Hornady I hate to start a new thread, email a manufacturer, etc every time I want to know a bullet length. Since I started this, anybody know the length of the the 225 ELD Match? |

If sectional density is easy to calculate then why can't you even algebra and figure out length with the posted numbers?
What is the formula for sectional density? |
|
|
Probably because Hornady's mostly for Fudds and Fudds don't care bout all dat mess.
ETA It pisses me off as well, but I'm fairly certain the new ELD's are the same length as Amax's that should be alot easier to find. |

View Quote Sectional density require only weight and caliber. Weight in lbs./ caliber squared= SD Bullet length can not be calculated by SD, weight, caliber or BC. Berger gives just about every dimension one could want when trying to select a bullet. Attached File |

No a buddy of mine is loading them for his 300WM. They should stabilize fine in a 10 twist.

If you are getting those 230s to stabilize I would bet the 225s would as well. They can't be much longer if any.

Send Hornady a email and ask them why? Yeah it sucks figuring it your self for your ballistics app.

Anyone who thinks hornady is for fudds is mistaken.
Me and my friends have been using the hornady 140eld-m to great success out of our 6.5x47s out to 1700 yards. I personally hit 5 of 5 at 1k in 20 mph winds on a 15x18 target yesterday. Ive not seen a bullet out perform the newer eld-m by much, if any. Back on topic, i too wish they listen length for bullets... no idea why they wouldnt... i need it for my TraSol app also >:( |

yes I wish they would release that info but for other reason's. so I can keep quickload up to date myself. lol
popnfresh I know your die hard with sticking with w748 but let me help push you in the right direction. it's called power pro 2000mr. still a ball powder which you love, but it will give you some more horsepower for you heavy .308's. I bought a box of 225 eld-m's myself to try in my 18.5" .308 but just haven't gotten around to it |

I maintain an extensive database of bullet length, BC, SD. You can access it in the Projectile Database tab of my BallisticXLR spreadsheet which is free to download at http://ballisticxlr.com.

StrelokPro needs it.
So I need it. Fortunately my loads are in there. |

View Quote AB Mobile and Shooter are nearly identical but in AB Mobile you can buy custom drag curves that better fit the bullet. If your bullet will stay above 1340fps you could just use Shooter (or Strelok) with G7 BCs. If you may go into transonic or have a bullet that has a velocity sensitive BC then going with AB Mobile with custom curves may be the way to go. If you need reticles, have a SFP scope, BDC reticle, then StrelokPro is a good choice because it has a shit ton of reticles and is always adding more. FWIW, I carefully went through JBM Ballistics, StrelokPro, AB Mobile and Shooter and made everything the same and they basically ouput the same results. STRELOK PRO= 394.2" DROP 72"WIND 1361.3fps SHOOTER = 394.5" DROP 71.8" WIND 1363.4fps AB MOBILE = 394.5" DROP 71.8" WIND 1363.4fps JBM Bal = 394.4" DROP 71.7" WIND 1364.1fps |
