I'm not trying to be argumentative.  You're the one doing all the work, so it's obviously your call.  It seems like it would be less work for you if the rules were set up so that they could be applied consistently, instead of requiring case-by-case determinations.  But if you want to decide case-by-case, that's fine by me.

Can you tell me whether this is allowed?

Thanks.

Yeah, I don't have that as I didn't discover this thread until after I got back from the range today (ie. didn't know it was a "rule") and was too busy shooting before the rain moved in to take pictures of the target downrange.

However, the power of the interwebs had me find this photo of the range I was at (Clark State Forest, Henryville IN):

I was shooting prone to the right of this exact bench, with the targets paced on the far berm just to the left of the vertical log over the man in the yellow shirt's left shoulder.

That would be fine.
Should probably update the rules post with a list of currently approved rear bags. It would likely help avoid future discussions. At a minimum, take out the reference to a softball. That's too far off the current size requirement. Softball size would also be too small/low to support the rear of many rifles on a bipod and keep it level.

Question:

I shot 5 today and have everything for the claim. Average .875 moa. The first group blew it out pretty good. I would like to reshoot a slightly modified load. If I submit an .875 today and shoot a better one this weekend will I be able to replace my entry with the better target?

1st submission:

SPR, Spey Rod, LaRue Predatobr 16" 5.56, Burris signature select 3-12, Handloaded 77gr SMK over Varget, Groups: 1.583, 1.010, 1.081, 1.148, .879 = Average 1.1402 - .224 = .9161/1.047=.8751

Range set up:
Rear bag and 4x6

Target on 100 yd board:

Well that sucks. I'll need to figure something out then...not sure a sock filled with rice would even be big enough for me to squeeze to get the rifle level. Off to the drawing board....

Akethan,

I promise I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass, but can you just double check the measurements for me on this...I think the triad bag could go on the approved list.

Approved bag: http://www.crosstac.com/shop-all-products/tactical-rear-squeeze-bag-pre-filled/ 6" Long 4" across

Approved bag: http://www.laruetactical.com/shooting-bag-accuracy-first-shooting-rest-bag 8" Long 5" across

The bag I linked has the same dimensions: http://www.triadtactical.com/Red-Tac-Gear-Rear-Bag.html 6" Long 4" across

Hope to get out to the range tomorrow for this

Many shooters on the wall have already used the Triad tactical rear bag, and it is exactly the same size as the bag you approved above on this same page.

If we are bagging on bags - then this bag which holds the rifle in a V is not cool, to my understanding.
