Maybe we ought to move the .22lr goal out to 75yds.... After all, according to the OP results, .22lr is sitting at 5:1, whereas CFR is sitting at 3:5.... :P

I shot the challenge today. LaRue tOBR in 7.62 with Tranquilo suppressor at 100yards using FGGM 168s. First target was bottom right and 4 of 5 with one just barely breaking black, second try was bottom left, 5 of 5 and a little more solid. I quit while I was ahead.

Got out to the range Sunday to finally do this.. even though it was 115 degrees.
Was shooting at a distance of 100 yards with my Colt 6920 + Trijicon ACOG TA01NSN. Ammo used was Lake City M193 55 grain ball. My first shot, well... I yanked the shit out of it.  The one just outside the frame on bad guy #2 was supposed to be for BG #1.
Other than that, 3 out of 5 wasn't too bad.

Here is my contribution. The targets are hard to read, I may need to take new photos with some back light. I shot these with the last of the sun shining from my left, hoping the holes would more visible.
Shot at 50 yards with SK Standard Plus ammunition. A breeze from left to right was present for every shot; I held off with varying success. First set up; benchrest with a Randolph front rest - 
I've been having trouble with my vision, so now you know how the world looks right now. Targets 1 through 5 were shot with this set up - 
To quiet the "oh, clamped wtf that's so easy", I shot 5 more targets (targets 6 through 10) with this set up - 
This requires both hands to steer the rifle without moving the rear bag for every shot. 
Finally, I shot one more target (target 11) without a rear rest, controlling the rifle with both hands aided by a bag under the forearm - 
I rushed through this target about as quickly as I could shoot, my back was killing me. I missed the hold off for the top target. I had fun, just in case you wondered. I also test fired a CZ 455 I bought a couple of weeks ago. That was interesting, the CCI hollowpoint ammunition would not feed, the Hornady 30 grain VMAX ammo fed perfectly (.22 Magnum). Accuracy shows promise. |

Ok so this was alot of fun, and more challenging than I thought it would be. Thanks Old_Painless for getting this started.
My best run I got a 4/5. I used my LaRue Tactical 20" Stealth, and cheapie American Eagle 55gr .223 I see it as 3 solid hits, 1 hit by a hair, and 1 miss by a hair.

I shot part of the antenna off the guy in the upper left but I don't know if that counts so I'll defer to O_P for a ruling. It was 91 degrees, 97 degree heat index with the humidity and zero shade yesterday. I actually had to come off the scope twice to wipe the sweat out of my eyes but i honestly can't remember before which two shots, so I'm not claiming that caused the miss(es.) It was so hot we had to put towels over the rifles while not in use to keep them from getting too hot to handle. All and all a fun and challenging exercise. Thanks O_P for putting this together. |

5/5. Savage in .223 shooting 75gr A-max over 24.5 gr of CFE223. I loaded up a hand full to try out, and shot all but these 5 sighting in. I'm glad I made it the first try, or I would have had to wait until the next range trip. And yes, shooting stuff IS fun.

I made it to the range yesterday. Range was 106 yards according to my Leupold LRF. Here is the target with 5 hits (barely).

Ruger Precision Rifle, 6.5 Creedmoor, Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27x, Bobro Mount, Magpul stock and grip, 140 grain Hornady ELDs over 41.6 grains of Reloader 17, Hornady Brass, CCI BR2 Primers, 2.834 COAL. 5 for 5.  Attached File Attached FileI will have to try this with my 18" Larue Barreled AR. The scope for that is a 2.5-10x, should make it a bit more difficult. The 27x Razor Gen II is almost cheating. |

I took my 7 year old to the range today and he really wanted to do this challenge, because he has seen my targets and we talked about how hard it is.
I set it up for him, 50 yards out and he shot from prone with a bipod. He did it once, and got 1 hit. I'm pretty proud that he got a hit, AND he wasn't discouraged saying he'd get more next time!

Later, I work walk-position-shoot drills in usually at the end of our first day in short courses, but we're on steel by then. I honestly don't shoot a lot of paper unless it's confirming zero, load development, things like that. I know this is an older thread, but me and TheUnicorn did this challenge today with my Thompson Center Compass in 6.5 CM shooting prone with a bipod and rear bag at 100 yards.
We used 2 different loads, TheUnicorn used 130gr Sierra TMK loaded with H4895. Been a super solid sub moa load for me for a long time. I used a load that I just worked up today with the 143 gr ELD-x with IMR 4451. Shot a good group with it this morning and I think it did really well today in this challenge. I'll have to sort out the printer as it is unwell, but I plan to have a go at this once normality is resumed
Until then however - and assuming the printer responds to a well placed size 8 and prints off the targets - may I ask for input on a possible modification?? Lots of folk are on lockdown and cannot access an outdoor range or their usual shooting land So, what about an amendment to allow AIR PISTOL ? Could be a way for people trapped inside to still get some trigger time IF an acceptable idea - what distances would work? Could make for an extra challenge to the game plus be fun for some of the younger family members |
