I agree with you, but this contest is at 50 and 100 yards.

Guess my 25 yard air rifle target won't win the contest, then.

Aw, shucks.

I will give this a go, although my ammo is sorta old and may need to sit down and rest half way there for a few minutes and catch it's breath.

I shot this a couple of times today, 4 actually. I didn't have a chance to try 100 yds but I will next time. First 3 were with my 52E with 3 different ammo types, last attempt was with my MKIII BSA Martini. I used the same 30x Lyman STS for both guns.

Edit: sorry I didn't think to "score" these, FTW I am 20x20 all hits (although a couple were crowding the tree and window frame)

52E 3rd try

2nd try

1st try

Five hits.

If you have any brightly colored paper you can lay the target over it.

Is there any special allowance for rifles with iron sights or 1X dot sights? I'm afraid I don't have any magnifying optics on any of my rifles. I just grew up shooting irons and always have shot that way, with the exception being my somewhat recent adoption of red dots for faster work. I sure would like to play, but I'd have a serious handicap with targets that small. I might give it a try with the .22 @ 50 yds anyway. That might actually be doable for me.

Damn... My first rifle shot was the bottom left and I must of flinched... I thought it was just shooting off (haven't shot in a few months with this rifle) and adjusted for the bottom right target, and it hit right where I aimed :-( The rest were on track, however I have like 1000+ rounds though my 300 and I never had a problem. 4th shot my bolt seemed like bound up and was hard to open, same for 5th shot then. Guess Ill have to get it looked at.
Rifle was just factory weatherby ammo @100 yards with a bipod.

Handgun is Winchester white box VP9

Got to the range this morning to give this a try.  My rifle is a Ruger 77/22.  I swapped out the barrel for a heavy Green Mountain barrel.  Has a Tasco scope also.  In this config it is easily the most accurate .22 LR rifle I have ever owned.

Laid the target over an orange plastic barrel to try to highlight the hits.  Sorta worked.

The grass was too wet to mow, so I shot instead.

Shot with some random ball ammo I had in my Jeep.  Maybe ZQI, I'm not really sure.

My father's coming up for the weekend.  If we go shooting I'll grab some handloads and shoot it again.

FYI, center guy with binos, his head is .5" wide, meant to be shot at 100 yards=.5 MOA.

1 mil = 3.5 MOA (rough)

My head is a little bit over 7 inches wide (based on my stiff cowboy hat).

3.5 MOA/.5 MOA  = 7

1 mil/7= 1.4 mil

7 x 27.77/.14~ 1380-90 yards

I was thinking that this looks difficult. 4 targets on an 8.5X11 @100 yards is tough.

So who's going to be the first smartass to give this contest a go with a .50 BMG?

Well, I thought I would give this a try. So I printed some targets, loaded up the .223 Savage, and headed to the farm.

Pulled in to the drive, and noticed a back hoe parked next to the garage. They don't own a back hoe. Hmm. Look around, and no one has mowed for at least a month. I can't see the target holder where we shoot. So off to get the mower. It won't start. Sigh.

In pulls the guy who leases the farm land. With a bush hawg on a tractor. So he can mow. Where we were going to shoot. Turns out he was moving some large rocks out of the field, and hadn't taken the hoe home yet. So, we decided to do some clean up stuff while we waited to get the barn yard mowed.  On thing started another, and 5 hours of back hoe(it was there, so we put it to good use) and tractor(farmer had to leave for a family thing, so I finished mowing) fun, and I ran out of time before I got my new Super Sniper scope sighted in. So I'll try again next week.

I did shoot a 1.009 5 shot group at 200 yds while sighting in. I didn't expect my 1/9 barrel to like 75 grain A-max bullets, but they showed promise. Off to load some more for next week for another try.
