[Last Edit: Mallard270]
I have a browning abolt 300 wsm that I recently had a 26" bartlein barrel put on.  I put about 40 rounds through it just before deer season so I could try it out.  Now I ordered some Norma brass and loaded a few up last week to see what it will do.

The load is:
Norma 300 wsm case
Hornady 150g btsp
Federal gm 215m primer
Col .010" from lands
H4350 loaded at 67g, 68g, 69g, 70g, 71g. (Hornady book max is 70.9)

Here are the velocity averages

67g: 3148 Fps
68g: 3339
69g: 3386
70g: 3370
71g: 3465

I know book numbers are never right but normally they are high. Book shows max velocity at 70.9g 3250 Fps with 24" barrel.  My numbers are quite higher and look similar to the 300 rum.   The spread was never more than 25fps per string and strings were shot about 20 min apart.  Here are pictures of the case heads.    They are in order left to right top to bottom and also the 100 yd group with the 71g load.  Any thoughts to these numbers?

I try to go with 190 SMK or 200 Accubond Nosler or 200 Barnes these heavy bullets do very well at longer distances.

Those are pretty high numbers in my experience. 3400 is hot, but your cases look OK.
I load WSM for my brother and load pretty mild, around 3000.
His rifle is a tack driver at that velocity, but starts opening up much higher.

I load  my Win Mag around 3200 with 150 Noslers.

Thanks for the help. im trying to stay with the 150-165 grain bullets.  Biggest animal we have are hogs and deer with a max shot being 6-700 yds most being sub 300 so I see no reason to go heavier.  With the factory barrel 2800 Fps Was the max I could get keeping groups under 1".  My tbac ultra 9 was just approved so if the stamp will come in by Friday I will try it out and verify these numbers with a different chronograph.  I really hope these are true numbers as it matches the bullet drop compinsator for the Zeiss rapid z-800 pretty close.  Thanks again and I'll post back what it does next time

Just checked a couple other books and it looks like Hornady list a lot hotter load than the others using h4350 and 150g bullet

Hornady 8th edition: 70.9g max
Speer #14: 68g max
Berger 1st: 68.1 max
Hodgon online: 67g max
