Benchmark, BL-C(2), varget, IMR 4895, IMR 4064, IMR-3031. Depends on bullet weight. I like the first 2 best. Benchmark does great against temp swings.

Win 748 and Varget have always done well for me, played with IMR 4064 a little.

1. Varget
2. IMR 4895
3. Reloader 15
4. 4064

I use Varget in my 5.56 long range set-up with an 80gr Berger, good to 1000 yards.  I also use it for my short line, 200-300 yards pushing a 77gr SMK.  My pet load in 7.62 is 175gr SMK good to 1200 yards (that's as far as I shoot).

Another 748 user. Also use it for 223, 30-30, 300 savage, 307 win.  Lots of good 308 powders, and am not going to be outside shooting at 0 degrees or anything over 90 degrees
Get best accuracy with mag primer, except 30-30.

Looks like one of the main buildings at Camp Perry in the background of your Avatar pic there...

My 1 and 2 are the same as yours, but darn it if I don't like the IMR 4895 more and more every day.   Seems like I've been able to find a load with it that works in several of my rifles, from .223, to .308, to 30-06.   I was actually loading up some more 30-06 for the M1 and some .308 for the M1A last night for some loads to try out.  Hoping to get back to Perry this year.

I've got some 4064 and 748 sitting on the shelf un-touched to try out some time from all the good things I've heard about them, but just haven't gotten past the 4895 yet.

I still have one pet load with Varget for some super precise rounds for my Savage 10 FP in .223.   Amazing sub MOA rifle out of the box with 69 SMK's.

In PopNFresh's case, 748 is appropriate for all of the reloading he does.

A lot of load development goes astray when the reloader misinterprets what the targets are trying to tell him/her. Then instead of leading towards a solution, the reloader is lead away and decides that this particular component "ain't gonna make it" where the component would be just fine if the misreading did not happen.

Or the loader had a set requirement like a targeted velocity and an accuracy standard.    Sometimes it's one or the other.  Another that thumbs its nose at me is the accuracy load is simply too far up the pressure curve for my satisfaction.  I don't like to go over max.   I may test up there following a trend to see what accuracy I get but wouldn't make a production run over max.

Pretty much my go to list but I have standardized on H4895 over IMR.   When my last two jugs of IMR 4895 are gone I will use H.    I have both in stock and
It seems silly to stock near twins.

Being a garand and M1a shooter I will likely always keep 4895
And 4064 around.  They work very well and are flexible and yet predicable.   For a bolt .308 you could never go wrong with 4064.  It is annoyingly long but it is extremely good for accuracy.   RL 15 is also one of my best in my obermeyer barrel and my go to high power AR powder for accuracy.  I'm sure there are better these days but I know what works.  To switch would require some good sessions of testing.  One day maybe.  Silly thing is I have quite a few one pounders I bought for testing and haven't buckled down due to life.

I love the groups I get with 4064, but trickling it is a pain. Once I run out of my last pound Ill switch to TAC or xbr 8208, but of which I use in 223.

I have had great results with Alliant 2000-MR in 308 and 5.56 for quite some time. But now have been working with CFE223 since I got 8lbs of it and have had even better load grouping using 75 bthp 5,56 and 168 bthp in 308.

Pop N Fresh,
What primer are you using for your ball powder?  Magnum or hot large rifle - like WLR?

Answered your IM, but... I use regular Wolf Large Rifle primers. Have used Fed 210m but Wolf worked better.

Varget is my go to powder for my 308. Next is 4064. But don't forget IMR 4166. About the same as 4064 but cleaner burning. Also a little bit more expensive. For shorter barrels, 8208 XBR works great too.
