So I cant find a single online vendor in the universe (aside from Midway) that has any Hodgdon H4350 in stock right now. And the ones that I did an in stock notification on months ago never sent me an email, leading me to believe that this stuff isn't getting imported from France anymore or something else is going on .
Anybody know anything? |

Weird because I can find it pretty much at every local reloading shop here in middle TN.

I saw a 8-pounder at our last gun show. It's out there.

It totally switched to Enduron powders. Some people say they don't work, but they have worked great for me.
4451 is what I subbed out, all my charge weights have been within .1 grains |

I got it at the Costco.

Try RL-17. Worked great for me to substitute H4350. I sold the rifle but RL-17 used less powder the H4350 for the same fps out of the barrel.

Maybe they decided to take a break from it and focus on other types that are just getting back in stock? Back during the neckbearding panic period a few years ago IMR4350 was about the only powder that I could find for almost a year. I have about 5 pounds of it on hand.
Edit: 4 pounds. |

H4350 is made Australia. By Australian Munitions.
There are batches out there. Most distributors have it on allocation, so might not show up online? Locally in the last three weeks there were somd 8# and 1# |

I've just started testing RE16. So far it looks promising.
I had rifle problems today so my groups were not my best, I'm going to redo one of the loads and go up another .6 since Sierra released their loading data for 6.5 Creedmoor |

Its out there, but you have to be there at the right place/time and buy now when it comes in stock.
Honestly though, IMR 4451 is just as good so thats what I have been shooting lately. ETA: Things are slowly coming back. Varget was just as unobtanium and is available pretty much everywhere now. With the price increase the Extreme powders are the same price as the Enduron powders so its really a wash. |

Powder Valley has it in stock. $25.75 for a one pound container, well under $200 for an eight pounder.

Op where are you located
Gun masters in Plano (DFW) generally has a good supply of powder, you might check with them although I think they are closed Sunday and Monday |

I went to several places in my neck of the woods looking for 4350 of any type. No luck. During the whole neckbearding panic over the last few years this was almost the only powder that was always available!

|
[#23]
A guy kind of local to me had 50lbs, he bought so much to keep the same lot #. He ended up switching loads and selling the 4350 for $20.00 a pound. Should have bought it all. Bought 20 lbs instead.
All I buy is hodgdon, haven't tried IMR. Heard the enduron is good shit though. |
|
|
[#24]
Another good potential replacement for H4350 is Hunter. It is also temperature insensitive like the Hodgdon. Most IMR and Alliant powders are sensitive to temps.

I'm wanting to try RL16 as soon as I finish the rest of this 5 pounder. |

There must have been #1 let loose by Hodgdon recently. They raised the prices on Retumbo, H1000, Varget, and H4350. The other Australian produced powders went up but no as much.

It may be comeing back, I found an 8 pounder at the fun show today. I couldn't believe my eyes, I was long stepping it to the table when I spotted it, good price too!

RL-19 has been my go-to powder for just about all loads that also do well with H-4350 and IMR-4350. May be "old school" but produces really good results for me both in accuracy and in velocity, especially in '06 type cases - '06, .270, .280 Rem and in 7mm Rem Mag and such. Yes, I know it is more temperature sensitive, but I work my loads up at summer temps and the drop in fps with temps seems relatively uniform. I rarely shoot under conditions where I cannot verify drop for the climate and season where I will be shooting.
|
|
|
[#30]
I've been seeing some good results from the newer alliant powders, not the older ones.
16,23, and 26 seem to be working well as far as stability goes. |
|
I got it at the Costco.
|
[#31]
I know what I would do .....
I'd go to my magazine and move the H4895 eight pounders and grab one of the H4350 eight pounders. They come four eight pounders to a box you know. |
|
|
[#32]
So I work night shift and when I woke up today at 6:30pm I saw an email notification from precisionreloader.com that they had some 1 pounders in stock (email sent at 3pm) so I checked their website, and sure as shit, it's sold out.
LOL, I feel like I'm hunting street dope back to a distributor. Buncha junkies and mysterious people in the habit giving unconfirmed stories and conjecture and hearsay about where it was 10 minutes before I showed up. So finally I got fed up and back ordered 300 something dollars worth of bullets, powder, and Lapua cases through Grafs & Sons. |

I bought a bunch of Re-16 for my .270 Win hunting rifle. I'm getting 3180 with a 130gr. Nosler Partition out of a 24" barrel. Quite impressive.
I haven't had a chance to use it in my 6.5 Creedmoor yet but my LGS was closing out their reloading section and I scored some 130gr Berger VLDs for 50% off. I think I'm going to try Re-16 with those. Of course I still have 10lbs of H4350 but it's always better to use an available powder, right? |

It is out there a distributor in Iowa has #1 and #8 on their shelves.
That is where our LGS has been getting it. |

Sheesh, sounds like I could make a buck buying it off the shelf here and reselling it.

Does anyone know where I can find either 1 or 8 lb's of H4350? I've got enough to load a couple hundred more rounds, my local shop has got 1 shipment in but it was all spoken for before I got there.
I've checked all the main online vendors with no luck in th past week. ETA: Powder Valley got 1lb jugs in today, I got 10 which was the limit. |

Luckily I've got a LGS that gets it regularly and I have 56 lbs of it as of last week |

I just received my shipment of Ramshot HUNTER powder. This is a ball powder that is right up there with H4350 in terms of burn rate (fairly slow). I'll be reloading this weekend and testing the next.
I did not look for an alternative out of desperation (I have 16 pounds) but having other options ready to go is almost always a good idea. You guys must be much more persnickety than I, or have loads that run the ragged edge of over-pressure, or something, as I have never had a significant temperature problem with any of my loads. Just keep your ammo out of the sun so it doesn't bake. |
