Keep this in mind: milling, and the subsequent math, looks easy on paper. It's harder in practice in the field than you think.  You've got to get out there and mil targets with varying backgrounds, light conditions, mirage conditions, etc to really get good at it.  Practice, practice, practice.

You also should be within .1 when milling your tgt or you could end up being way off the range.

I've always preferred ranging in meters. Tgt size in inches x 25.4 / tgt size in mils = range in meters

25.4 was burned into my brain at school. A large can of Fosters beer is 25.4 ounces.

You can do the math every time or you can do it before you need it and make a card with mils and ranges to reference.
