[Last Edit: IIRC]
So i have have a Switchback for around 5 years now, it has been sitting for the past three since i had gotten the new model.

My question is, do strings go bad? I had always kep them good and waxed, and their is very little wear on them.

While I personally love Mathews bows, I'm not a fan of their factory strings.  If you feel like doing an upgrade, strings are where I'd start.  That all may be irrelevant since you said you have a new model, but it's just food for thought.

Thanks for the info, the reason for bringing it out of the closet is to loan to my brother for his first bow season.

Where would i get the original measurements to be able to check it? the only measurements I have are marked on the bow, the draw weight , string length, and cable length.

What brand of strings would you recommend?

There's timing marks on the camI don't have a good pic handy, so here's a link

The Switchback isn't a speed bow, and putting speed strings on it won't amount to a hill of beans, so I would go with a 452X material.  You might see a 2 or 3 FPS loss as opposed to an 8125 material, but it's a better string.  No creep, no twist, no stretch.  They're hard to beat.

If you don't mind waiting a couple weeks, Bucknasty Strings has been a great guy for me to deal with, and many others I have recommended his strings to.

Its just a Switchback. I took it to the shop yesterday to have a pro look over it. Cables and strings where in awful shape, and the cam was cracked. He said Mathews would warranty the cam, and they ordered some strings for it.

It might be a great opportunity to upgrade for no appreciable difference in cost.

ill give them a call tomorrow and see if they have ordered them yet, if not i may try and get a set of the bucknasty or vapor trail

WC FTW.  I'm not a big fan of any of Zebra's stuff either.

If WC breaks the budget, H&M Strings makes some pretty good ones.  I've been ordering about a dozen sets a year for the last several years.  About $70 TYD for any color you want.  The only downside is it takes him about a month to get them to you.

Amazing,
I was just coming to ask some one in here about strings.

I am gonna break down and replace the strings on my 10 year old bow.

With schedule I just never got around to getting a new bow, and now.... I have decided it does what I need.

Just not willing to drop big money into something, I am not sure my body will last.

I have not had it out in 2 seasons. Hope I am recovered.

So, gonna need a string for my Browning Tornado 70-80lb bow. Was a 29 inch draw, probably need rechecked.

Still plan on shooting my 2nd grade pencils. XX75s , 2314s

Gonna have to have a shop do it for me.

So––––- recommendations?

Not really a fan of Zebras. I had one and made 1 1/2 seasons before fraying.
