First of all I LOVE that rack idea... I am stealing that idea! What are the pros and cons of the Mathews vs the Martin? I like the Cheetah but I have had good luck the the two Mathews bows we have now (granted they are only Genesis but nonetheless, we have nothing but good comments on them) |

Just hope your builder was as cool as mine and put everything on 15" centers instead of 12
I was actually a PSE guy most of my life. From my first bow, about 3 more up until 1994. It was then i decided I hadn't gotten a new one in a while and PSE didn't have anything that tickled my fancy.....enter the Martin. I positively love the martin, but 2 yrs ago I bought the Matthews. Mostly it was a sign of the times and old equipment. Con- String replacement. Made Long before single cams. I had to have strings custom made every time. It's hard enough to find a teardrop string, let alone one for someone with a short draw length. Con- This one was self induced though. I put a 3" overdraw on it and was pushing 2213 XX75's. Anyone that's ever shot an over draw can attest to the fact that there's not much margin for error, they aren't forgiving. Con- HEAVY. Pro- Short. 31" axle to axle, this was a great tree stand bow. Pro- It filled over 30 tags in it's 12 year tenure. I shoot 1 pin and 1 pin only. Have for a very long time. Between the 2213's and old technology, my confident shots were inside 25yds, enter 2006 and Matthews. Pro- Fast, fast and fast. Switched to carbons and some sweet new technology. I still shoot a single pin. Shot in 1" high at 10 yards and I'm good to go. I smoked my first deer with the SBXT at 36 yds and never hesitated. Pro-80% let of is amazing compared to 65% too. This bow is just sweet, period. It's got 8 deer and a turkey under it's belt in it's first 2 seasons. Only cons I guess I can honestly think of is that I will ONLY take it to a Matthews certified dealer. No one else will touch it. and it's hard as *$&% to find a hard case to fit it that I don't have to take a second mortgage out on the house to buy. |

BradleyW, I've got the 2-piece Octane quiver on my 82nd. The bow was fairly light until I added that tank to the mix. Do you notice the added weight with your 1-piece?
Great-lookng bows, guys. I'm looking forward to hammering a lot of deer with mine this year. I retired my PSE Intrigue last year after taking deer in each of the 8 seasons I hunted with it. I bought my first bow in '89, and have had bows from most of the major manufacturers -- PSE, Mathews, Darton, Hoyt, BowTech -- with the most models being PSE. I'm truly excited about this new BowTech. I've never had a drop-away rest before (the Intrigue had an integral rest that couldn't be changed), and I can drop the draw weight from 61# to 50# -- AND STILL GAIN 65 FPS OVER MY LAST BOW!!! And that'll be around 305 FPS with a 6 grain per pound arrow and 80% let-off. |

The Octnae is heavy, but quiet. I will still take it off in the tree. I had not shot in 10 years, bought a used Parker, realized I still liked shooting. Enter the 82nd
( 29",66lbs.), it is not easy to shoot. I am good 20-30 arrows then start F***ing up so I bought the General(29",66lbs) it is much smoother and very forgiving. You will like the lower weight on the 82nd, but watch the valley, relax too much and it will smack you in the face or try and suck you through the rest. |

Hello.......dampener on the sight? Talk to me... Where, who (guessing Matthews), how to get? Also, I see you have the light on the pin shroud. Thoughts? I personally hate mine. Blinds me. Great for early morning moving around the stand and not wanting to disturb things though I went back to a tritium pin. |

Actually it is the G5 Optix XR sight. I ordered it from Cabelas a few days ago. They said it was on backorder but I got it on Monday. It is very impressive. It has .019 pins, a variable power light that only lights the fiber optics, lightweight. I was more than impressed when I got it. Some of the earlier reviews commented on some pin problems, but they were corrected for the 2008 model. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth it. G5 Optix XR |

What can I say, I like a quiet bow. |
||||
|
This only lights the end of the fiber optics. It has 7 settings from barely on to bright. If you aren't looking at the sight end of the pins you wouldn't know the light was on. Nothing there to spook game. |

There's nothing like having a 50# Bowtech that's faster than a 70# Mathews in the same draw length. For the Mathews guys, I'm just giving you some harmless flak (even though the above statement is true.) I've owned a few Mathews bows in my day -- MQ-32, FX, and Switchback XT -- and thought that they were great bows. I bought the 2007 Switchback XT last year, but ended up selling it NIB at a $100 profit on eBay before I ever got around to setting it up. |

Thanks. It's very forgiving for a short bow. Next year I'm getting the X-Force SS (26" ATA). |

That is a great looking bow. Thanks! I find that recurves are generally very beautiful. I originally wanted a silver/metal finished riser, but the place I ordered from did not have a left handed riser in silver, so I got the black. It looks very nice! I also wanted the sight in silver, but again, the only had black in the left handed version. I've also learned I'm in the minority. I'm right handed, but left eye dominant, and I shoot a bow left handed. |

I did a 3D shoot today, and the people I shot with thought they were quiet. They also liked having something to aim at. They do stand out pretty good on a target, which can be another downfall if your friends like to try to bust your arrows. Out of the faster bows, like the X-Force GX6 I had, they were louder. The faster you go, the louder they get. I normally shoot 2.25" NAP Quickspins, and these have the exact same POI. I was kind of suprised by that. They were made for stabilizing fixed blade broadheads, and I think you would be hard pressed to find a better fletch for doing that than these. If you just shoot 20 yard indoor target, I don't see any great advantage over any other fletching on a tuned bow. |
