I hear good things about these guys for bowstrings

After you get your string, any decent archery shop should be able to get you set up with arrows and other shooting accessories.

As you guys can guess I'm new to Archery. I did have a bow in Nam...yes I'm old.

I doubt that I will hunt, but would like to try my hand at Targets, and of course if the zombies come down the block and my Glock blows up....

I'm 75 miles from a large city so was looking for a place to mail order supplies. Thanks

This video illustrates a couple ways to measure your draw length and arrow length. Having a consistent anchor point is going to be the most important thing.

I wouldn't imagine the process is a whole lot different between compounds and recurves, other than your 45# bow is only 45# at a specific draw length (say 28"), if your draw length is longer, the poundage will be higher. Easton has a good shaft selection tool that has input for recurve bows.

For example I shoot a 29" draw length bow, and I buy 30" arrows. This gives you a little space in front of your bow hand for when you have a broadhead installed, you don't want to have arrows too short and draw a razor sharp broadhead across your hand.

Hopefully some of this helps.

I'm not into traditional archery, but have heard nothing but great things about this place:

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.
