We are looking to upgrade him next spring to a bow suitable for hunting. Are you letting him shoot as many bows as possible to find the right one for him? My 10y.o. shot the Menace, Craze, and the Diamond Razor Edge, and he liked the draw, feel, and balance of the Razor Edge over the others. Even though you seem to have decided on Mission bows, I would personally recommend the Diamond Razor Edge, which can be upgraded from 15-30# limbs (which he'll need at 8y.o.) to the 30-60# limbs later on when he gets bigger. My 10y.o. shoots the heavier limbs set at 30# and it is just low enough for him. Another thing to consider is that the Razor Edge is faster and –– when we tried them side by side –– quieter than the Craze. The Craze is 306fps at 30/70, while the Razor Edge achieves basically the same speed (308fps) at lower draw weight and shorter draw length (29/60). |

PSE Rally
The 60# bow is adjustable from 18# to 60# and the draw length is adjustable form 18" to 31" |

after looking at the two, I would go with the Craze. I actually have a Mission Maniac and I love it.

I just got my son a used maniac and it is easily adjustable over a huge range (22-30" and 20-70lbs). Draw length is adjustable without a press. One bow can cover them from young child to full adult. |

That's correct- I am not very familiar with the Matthews/Mission bows to know if there is another direct replacement, but the Maniac I've seen for $250-$300. There are certainly less expensive bows out there, but not a lot that are as adjustable to be able to keep up from 8yo to adult... of course 10 years from now he might prefer one of the laser shooting bows...
