My son is 8 and 60 lbs., He is taking a class tonight at Cabelas for youth bow. Im going to pick up a crossbow and was thinking about the how heavy the front is. Is there a pole or some way to let him use the crossbow and maybe get good enough to bag a deer this fall?

Check out the Tenpoint Steddy Eddy.

Essentially an adjustable mono-pod - I use one on an Excalibur.

Welcome and good luck to your boy!

I would (re)emphasize with him to make darn sure fingers/gloves/sleeves/etc are below the string flight line - i've noticed sometimes I hold the foreend oddly with the monopod attached.
