I'm in the same boat.  We found a JOAD group that shoots fairly close to us (close enough in TX terms anyway).  They seem to be a very pleasant group and it has provided my kids the chance to shoot a variety of equipment.

The majority of entry level target recurves all seem to come out of the same couple of Asian factories and feature parts having a degree of interchangeability.

The Samick Polaris seems to be very common choice and run about $100-125.  My daughter will be getting an W&W Sebastian Flute Flame.  The only difference I can see is graphics on the limbs.  Otherwise they appear identical and cost within $5-10 of each other.

The 62" Flame happens to be on sale for $86 making my decision easy.

Looks like the Flame is no longer on sale.  It was a pretty good deal.

Found a Polaris for $99: http://www.twigarchery.com/samick-polaris-bow/

Be a real dad and get her the Mockingjay bow and you'll be her hero for ever!  I'm getting my 13 year old girl this one.

I bought my daughter a Samick Polaris from Lancaster Archery a few weeks ago. They are really nice bows for the price.

Riser was $44 and the limbs were $49. She is 5 1/2 yrs old and really enjoys it.

The Red/White arrows are hers. (Only 5 yds but only her 3rd time out - all by herself too! No help!)
