I haven't bowhunted seriously since 2003. I didn't bowhunt at all 2004-5-6-7-8. In 2009 I went once. I

In all honesty, with the current work/family situation, that's not likely to improve a lot this year, but I'd love to get back into shooting, so maybe in a year or two when we get a house built (on the farm we just bought, so I can hunt close to home) this will improve.

Meanwhile, I got my bows out (compound and recurve) saturday and did some shooting. I have -0- arrows left for my recurve and only a handful for my compound. Until I got married, I lived within spitting distance of a GREAT pro shop that built my arrows for me - you pick the shaft, fletching (color, length, type, straight or helical, whatever), insert, nock, and they'd cobble them together and I could pick them up the next time I dropped by.

Well, that shop is an hour away now, so I need a source of arrows.

Does anyone have an online service where you can specify fletching type, color, angle, etc, exact shaft length, etc, and they assemble your arrows and ship them to you?
...But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay...All my familiars watched for my halting...But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one...

I've never used them, but South Shore Archery does this. I have heard good things about them and I was planning on getting my hunting arrows from them in the next month or so.

South Shore arrows are the best arrows money can buy, we have the most comprenhensive and complete arrow building process in the industry, Guaranteed!

Every Custom Arrow Is:

  • Tested using a R.A.M. Spine tester to locate the back bone
  • Cut and squared on both ends
  • Cleaned inside with a brass brush to improve insert adhesion
  • Vanes are treated with a proprietary CA primer prior to fletching the shafts
  • Vanes are installed with a proprietary adhesive that is exclusive to S.S.A.S
  • Numbers are added to identify the backbone
  • If you purchase points we will include a packet of ND Industries VC-3 Thread locker
  • Uni-Bushings or Pin Bushings will be installed with Bohning Low Temp (Blue) Hot Melt to make it easier to replace them.

I build my own arrows with a Weston arrow saw and Jo-Jan monofletcher, but, if I were to order arrows online, I would order from these folks. They're just about as cheap or cheaper than rolling your own.

South Shore archery seems good to go. I just ordered my EZ Green bow press from them and got it within 2 days, free shipping. Never had them build arrows though.

I've bought my arrows, fletching, and points from 3riversarchery.com. They'll build arrows to your spec but I enjoy making my own and it's a little cheaper. I'm using an Arizona Rim Country E-Z Fletch jig that I got through Amazon.

I build my own, but I've seen plenty of nice arrows come from hunters friend.

+1

Jerry at South Shore Archery is who built my last set of arrows, and I'm 100% satisfied with them. You can't even see a speck of glue on the vanes, yet they have all stayed on with no peeling, etc.

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

I ended up ordering my arrows from Hunter's Friend, South Shore was out of the arrow I was looking for. All I can say is they did a very nice job and they shipped so fast I was wondering how they had time to build my arrows. They did come exactly as ordered. Two thumbs up.
