THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Do you use a conversion or a completely different rifle or pistol? I want to train more but do not want to shoot full power stuff when finicially it's just not really an option. I have a Ruger 10/22 and Ruger MKII that I was messing around with today and got me thinking why not use these? It'd be cheaper and get me more trigger time. No, it's not exactly the same as my AR and Sig but marksmanship and fundements still apply. I can always work on the draw stroke and reloads at home, same with the sight picture on my AR. |

Contact Phil at BAM Airsoft. That's who Keith gets his targets from as well as the pistols. Tell Phil I sent you and he'll take care of you.
Rich ETA: I'm shooting 500 rounds a week of off hand rifle starting in November, after my last pistol match in October. In the little bit that I've done already getting drills figured out, I'll just say that it's helping....A LOT! |

I use a 10/22 setup with Tech-Sights. Since I had more time than money, I got a takeoff stock from ebay for $10, and they using bondo sculpted in a pistol grip and raised the comb to make a quasi AR style. It is not perfect, but it does a decent job. I use it mostly on reduced size targets at short range, practicing for longer range shooting.
I do not have anything for the pistol though. For that I mostly practice doing reloads, dry fire, and transitions.

Well after taking about 5 months of and hiking, I mean hunting...
I starting competing again and while my rifle skills are solid as always, my pistol shooting suffered horrendously! As can be seen in this: Another stage hurt me more simply due to a lack of confidence so I shot slow but I lost time on paper due to poor marksmanship
So I read up on grip and the basics of handgun marksmanship on the AMU website the past few days. Went out today and with my MKII and Sig P226 I got back to practicing. Much improved by the end of my session. The grip angles are slightly different but no big deal. I will be spending a lot of time with that MKII, believe me! |

Both Ben Powell and I train with these to simulate shooting our 2011's:
http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1ATGSG1911ADAP&name=German+Sport+1911+22cal+Pistol+with+Fake+Can&groupid=3 We also use Spike's ST-22 kits but unfortunately, they are not in production at this time. |

I plan on building a dedicated 22lr AR at some point but just no funds for that at the moment. I use a 1911 at times but typically my Sig 226 just for capacity reasons. I CCW a 1911... All things on my list though. My marksmanship improved quite dramatically just after a hundred rounds of 22lr and half a box of 9mm. I am taking baby steps and really focusing in the fundamentals before I get back to improving my El Prez. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_9_15/230683_Your_El_Presidente_Times_.html |

How is the reliability with this pistol? I'm seriously considering getting it to step up my training. I'm gonna have an open gun ready in a few months and think I can win the overall. I usually use iron sights and do well and often win that division. If I could beat of give the local pro a run for his money I might look at larger national matches. |

I've had old grips not work due to the ever changing trigger bar and a ALS holster not work even though it said it fit. Backordered though so it's like a 3-4 week wait... Did get a 20% discount on extra mags |

I use standard bulk ammunition and I've never had a problem with it. Don't use the Golden stuff and you'll be fine. |
