I need to pick up a few new pairs. I've got the 5.11 taclite series now, and I like them. Anything else around that you would suggest? If not I'll stick with what I have.

I have worn the 5.11 but found I like the LA Police great pants better. They fit me better and for $19.99 they are hard to beat.

Check out the Wrangler cargo pants they sell at Wally World.

Very comfy and they don't have those annoying drag straps like the 5.11s.

Are the sizes on the LA pants the same as the 5.11's? When it comes to the fit of them that is.

I like Big Star from The Buckle. Makes my Ars look great I'm told!

I have a few pairs of 5.11 for shooting but I can't quite get the right length. Gonna have to HO custom shop on that this fall. The elastic waste feels weird too!

Thats about where Im at with them. I wear a 32 length, and they are almost a little short. If I go up to 34 I'll be tripping over them.

I do like that they are easier to maneuver in than jeans, but Im not completely sold on them yet. They have worked for me up until this point, but Im exploring other options

I've been wearing a pair of Tru Spec 24-7 ripstops for the past 6 months at matches and I like them a whole lot. The cargo pockets have an exterior pocket that's large enough to hold a pistol magazine, and two internal pockets sized appropriately for AR mags. I've gotten pretty darned muddy at some of the matches and have yet to permanently stain them. I bought a second pair last week. Pretty happy with them, even if they're $40 a pop.

Loving my VERTX pants, just go up a size or two on the waist. They fit small.

Late with an answer but they seem to run small

I feel the same way, they are light, and pretty durable all in a $19.99 package. I wear them most every day for general use.

How easy are they to move around in? How are te pockets? Any durability issues?

Surprisingly enough I haven't had any issues with them, i got the elastic waistband ones and they have plenty of room to move in, and for $20 they are surprisingly durable. In any case, I figure they are only 20 bucks i can buy new pairs whenever needed...

As far as the pockets, they are velcro enclosure, they have Molded Plastic D-Rings in the cargo pockets, they have the two regular pockets and a smaller horizontal mobile/currency/knife pocket with another plastic molded D-Ring above them on each side. Milspec Monkey has a pretty good picture gallery of them. Link.

Normally I either wear TruSpec 24-7s or my favorite pair is a pair of Blackhawk Warrior pants. Though some of these posts about the LA Police Gear pants have me interested in trying them since $19.99 is hard to beat price wise.

I am a cheap skate most the time but still like to buy quality stuff, because buying cheap shit twice still sucks. I have worn the 5.11 pants, was given a pair of Tru-specs and bought 2 LA Police Gear pants. I will say all in all they are very similar, in that they are all good products. But the LA Police gear pants are just as good as the others for half the price. I pay attention to the site and wait for closeouts. When I get really bold and shoot in shorts they are some LA Police gear shorts I got for 5 bucks from a closeout on their site. They are essentially 5.11 design, but at $5 they were a steal. I have several of their products and have beat them up dragging them to matches and attempting to wear the seat out with no success so far. I also use their $20 range bag (I believe they call it a bail out bag, others call it a purse), and their soft pistol cases. Both have been awesome. Not that any of the others are bad products IMO, its just that the others are so comparable at such a savings that I think its hard to go anywhere else for me.

If you are looking for some nice pants that will offer max maneuverability I would look into something like either the Kuhl or Arcteryx pants that have a spandex weave mixed in. I originally bought a pair with the stretch fabric for climbing, and they are great overall. Lightweight, move well, still have some extra pockets on them, and have also worn fairly well. May be a bit more expensive, but worth the price. If you have an REI close by I would go check them out. A few of the other big name outerwear companies have similar items, such as Marmot and Mountain Hardware.

+1

You can also pick them up at Target as well. They are very comfy and surprisingly durable. In the colder months or if I need something tougher I'll wear Carhartt or Dickies brand duck canvas. YMMV....
