I just bought a Xdm 5.25 9mm today. It is the first pistol I have ever bought that has adjustable sights. I bought it specifically for use in 3 gun. What range do you guys usually sight them in for with the varying distances on 3 gun targets? Shot it today at the indoor range right after I purchased it. Seems like it may be sighted in around the 20yard range now. Shot 50 rounds of 115grain and 50 rounds of 124 grain at distances from 7-35 yards to see how it would do. The 7-20 yard range it seemed to be about dead on. Any thing at the 25-35 yard rang was low.

I can't shoot good groups past about 15 yards do that's where I zero.

Sounds like 20-25 is about average. What is the typical range of ranges for the pistol stages?

Was at the range again today. Shot 115 and 124 again. Started thinking, what grain size do you sight in for? My guess is sight in what you will shoot the most of and then know what your offset will be for the heavier rounds for the occasional harder knock down targets. I haven't tried any 147 yet. Plan to try them the next time out.

This is the first pistol i have owned that has adjustable sights. With that, I actually get to chose what I want my sight picture to look like. Are you better off having fiber optic dead on point of aim or top of front post centered on point of aim for this style of shooting? Just another thing i was thinking about when I was practicing today. I could see a situation where the targets are further away and dead on point of aim could completely cover a smaller target making it less accurate. I don't plan doing any adjusting until I get a few more range days in. I want to have a good feel for it before i start moving things around.
