with XS big dot sights. I compete with what I carry. I am a pretty good shooter but other than more practice time I am wondering about doing something with the trigger. any opinions?

Try polishing and connector upgrade first. While Ghost trigger upgrade is worth the money, if you have not yet tried the cheaper alternative, I would do that first.

Ghost rocket is a good alternative.

I have tried lone wolf, and factory (-) connectors with (-) striker and (-) trigger safety springs. None yield as good a trigger as the ghost rocket after fitting. YMMV

Like you, I shot with my carry gun (a G19 with big dots) at the time. The best thing I did was lose the big dot sights in favor of ameriglo I dots. I did not realize how much the big dots were holding me back. Again, YMMV

ETA: Big dots are fast, and they can be precise, but are very slow if you are trying to be fast and precise when the front dot is the same size or larger than the plate you are trying to hit.

If I was to choose one sight type for much defensive shooting and competition right now, and night sights were a must, Heinie Straight Eight ledge pro would be my choice without even having to think about it.
