Not enough info - the optimal recipe will depend on your particular gun (barrel type/length, what it likes to feed etc.). Start with the published loading data for your preferred powders (I run Universal Clays, used to run TiteGroup - there are many others well suited to 9mm). Start at 10% below maximum then test increasing charges over a chrono until you make USPSA Minor power factor or hit maximum. Even if you are not shooting under USPSA rules, going below Minor PF is unwise as you may have problems dropping steel.

My own current load is as follows:

BULLET: Precision Delta 124grn JRN
PRIMER: Fiocchi SPP:
POWDER: 4.4gr Universal Clays (PF=131 from a 5" M&P9 Pro)
COAL: 1.16"
CRIMP: Lee Factory Crimp die (set up for minimum crimp per Lee instructions)

IMPORTANT: This load comfortably makes Minor PF out of my 5" barrel, and barely out of a 4.25" barrel. It might not make it in a 3-4" barrel, hence the need to run your loads over a chrono out of your gun.

Then my load is a reasonable starting point. Invest in a chrono.

4.0gr of titegroup
1.125 OAL
MG 124 CMJ
WSP
Around 133-135PF
NOTE: This is out of a KKM barrel in a G34 (my glock barrel adds about 20-25 fps YMMV)

As noted start lower and work up with your gun using a chrono

Good info!
It starts with your head, then use your hands, if you try it in reverse, you don't even have a chance.

For 124gr, a lot of books & powder can and shooters recommend 1.125" neighborhood for coal. Not sure why.

Try 1.155 and 1.16 in your gun. Longer 9mm frequently feeds better and shoots tighter groups.

How much cushion over 125pf do you guys load? Do you load your ammo for 127 or 130 or what?

Thx.

Non-USPSA multigun doesn't involve power factor shooting for the most part.

This year, I'm going to shoot 115PF ammo when there isn't one. (But I'll have stout ammunition with me just in case the stage calls for it)

115gr JHP
4.2gr of Solo 1000
Federal SPP
Long OAL for use in your pistol

That's why I stress everyone needs to work up their own loads. OAL (aside from the obvious pressure concerns) has too many variables.
Not all guns have the long forgiving chambers that limited guns do. Bullet profile has a lot to do with it as well. My wife's G-34 will eat up MG CMJ's @ 1.130, but can't run JHP's longer than 1.115ish. 147's won't feed over 1.125. I watched a guy working up a load this week in my basement lock that same G34 up tighter than a drum with a bullet at 1.125.....but it was a very different profile than either of us had ever tried.

You have to do the time to learn your gun and bullet combo. A lot of trial and error.

I personally try to get around 132-135 PF. I like to get 1 load dialed in for that gun and not vary it match to match regardless if there is a PF required or not. The timing of the gun stays the same and I know where it shoots.

Do this search on Enos in the 9mm section and you will have more info than you thought possible.

I played with sub minor loads last summer a little. My opinion to them is that I can't much tell any difference under match conditions between 115pf and 130pf. So whatever runs 100% in your gun and consistently knock steel over is GTG

Yup.

In practice, I could tell the difference between 130PF Titegroup loads and the new 115PF wimpy loads I'm playing with - it was a very noticeable difference.

On the buzzer, all I could see was my front sight with no noticeable difference.

Im running-

5'' M&P

3.9gr Titegroup
Winchester Small pistol primers
OAL- 1.155
Berrys 147gr

Havent gotten it to the chrono yet. But based off of others experiences , it should make minor PF.

I also have the 2011 that I just got (avatar) and was considering running some minor .40 loads for it. I figure I will just keep it for USPSA matches for now. That was its original purpose, but as Im starting to transition over to 3gun more heavily, that may change.

I like using W231 or HP38 for 9mm:

3.8 gr W231 w/ Prec Delta 147 gr @ 1.124" OAL gives me a nice shooting round out of a G34 w/ KKM Barrell

It runs about 920 FPS on my chrono

Im a huge fan of Alliant Power Pistol Powder. Its extremely accurate, good velocities, depenses very nicely. Ill never use anything other than power pistol. The recepies on the website in my opion are a little hot. For 124 grain bullet Id run say maybe 5.8 grains. I shoot reloads through my factory glock barrel no problem. Its actually quite remarkable how much difference the powder can make on accuracy. I compared my handloads using a fairly cheep bullet ...........I think it was Berry's Preferred from Cabelas and Power Pistol powder against some factory UMC FMJ and the gourp out of a small Glock 27 was way tighter with my hand loads than the factory Remington UMC.
